i don't like it...tell me it's worth it! I read some of the Met success stories, but since i'm not TTC, I'm having trouble getting motivation to keep up with the met while I'm feeling so sick. I know you can all relate...I guess I just want to vent about it...
What side effects are you experiencing? I did feel pretty awful the first week or so of met. And then with each increase. But each time the side effects did get better. What dosage are you on...was it a gradual increase to your largest dosage. Most doctors won't put you a high dosage right away instead opting to allow your body to get used to the medication and then gradually increasing it.
As far as wether it works. It did work for me at first. Currently it is not enough to regulate my cycles. But I guess for some women it does work.
I hope you find the answers that you are looking for.

Hang in there Megan! The s/e's really do get better! I had a really rough time getting used to the Met too...I threw up and had crazy yucky bathroom moments but after a couple weeks it really did stop.

My SE's got worse for a few days each time my dose was increased..... just be religious with taking it. I found that if I missed a day, I got the GI SE's the following day.

after stopping and starting metformin several times, i am now on it and reaping the benefits. i had the WORST stomach issues... there were times i nearly did not make it to the toilet in time - it was awful if i was out at the mall i had nausea too. even had bouts of constipation.
i started out at a lower dose, then increased to the highest. i had so much spotting that we reduced it to the dose i am on now, which is 2000mg.
my periods are now regular, my testosterone is within normal range - which is amazing for me. i am ovulating.
the only thing it hasn't done for me is helped me lose weight - but i haven't helped me either.
if you are having problems with met - then it might be that you are on the wrong dose. go back and see your doc. give it a while to kick in. i remember people telling me that from this board, and i didn't believe them. it took me THREE times of stopping and starting to finally GET that it takes some time to work. i wish i'd done it sooner - i wouldn't have wasted 3 years of farting around.
good luck and feel free to ask more questions!

I definately agree with eva, try to avoid greasy/fatty foods. I end up being so sick if eat the wrong kinds of food
Hang in there i hope you will feel better soon.
thanks for all the suggestions. I haven't been sick at all since I decided to go on a diet. I'm on a low-GI diet and am eating as healthy as I can, avoiding bad carbs, grease, and fatty foods. It sucks (because I LOOOOVE to eat), but I'm not sick at all and that's way better than how I was feeling before.
I have to up my dose at the end of this week, though, so we'll see if that changes anything.
