Default New...pain question

Thank you for all who read and respond... About 5 years ago I was told I had PCOS by one Dr and told I didnt have it by another. The only symptom at the time was irrigular periods. I was on the pill for a year and went off with no problems and my peroid was normal tho heavy at times. The ball kinda dropped and I havnt seen a Dr about it since. For the last couple years I would get pretty severe pain during my period in my right ovary that radiated to my thigh. It would last about a half hour and go away. My concern is that now I have the same pain and it isnt my period (not due for a week) and I dont have health insurance for a couple weeks as my hubby just got a new job. The pain is not severe mostly dull and achy. My question is assuming this is a cyst which i beleive it is...am I in any immediate danger? Assuming it does not become severe and I dont have any other problems can I wait several weeks before being evaluated or ? I know many of you experience this pain. Any advise would be appreciated...kinda scared...
Blessings,
Cheryn

Hi Cheryn and Welcome to SC!

I wish that I could give you some advice on your situation - Hopefully one of the "veteran" cysters will be able to give you some info shortly, so hang in there! How long will it be before your DH insurance goes into affect?

Keep posting and see you around the boards!

I think insurance kicks in on the 18th. Pain is still there just started spotting so my period will be on full force in about a day. Kinda worried that this period will be a bad one.

To my knowledge, the only "danger" is pain from a cyst rupturing. You should be fine to wait to see a doctor.

Default Hi

Hi, I have the same kind of pain every month for 4 years, sometimes lasts all month. The docs tell me that it is from a cyst rupturing. But they never do anything for it. They give me vicadin and send me on my way. I have had severe pain all month this month and have started thinking it may be endometriosis. Usually the pain from a cyst rupturing lasts from 2 days to 5 days. If it is a big cyst then it can be dangerous if it bursts. So you should go get it checked out with an ultrasound or they may be able to feel it during a pelvic exam. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better.

The good news is that the pain has subsided with the end of my period. Of course I was concearned about it being endo too and the worst thought is that it could be cancer or something horrid. Well I am trying not to worry and wait to see what the doctor will say. Not too much longer till the insurance starts. Yes I have had this pain too for years during my period only. Is that normal behavior for a cyst or more normal for endo? Anyone know??

Thanks all who have replied and who will.

I think that pain during your period would be more from endo as far as I hear. I can only go by what I feel and that it with the cyts, I feel pain every time I ovulate as they rupture when I ovulate. But I may be different. I too have just started having pain and I am waiting to get the results from my ultra sound.

That sounds exactly like the pain I am having. As soon as my period is gone, it is gone (that particular pain anyway). They think it is endo.

But I have been having sharp pains since my period that I think is the cyst. GRRRR. I'm not plopping down ANOTHER $400 for ANOTHER ultrasound.
