Default new to this particular forum

Hi everyone, I thought I would try posting in the thin-cysters forum because you might have little more to say.

I was diagnosed with PCOS properly late last year (I had suspected it for years). I've now lost enough weight to be classified in the healthy range. I don't know specifically what it is - I asked not to know as when i was overweight it used to make me freak out - but my dietician assured me I was fine, and that I definitely didn't need to lose any weight.

I really questioned her over this, because while I know I've lost weight, and feel much better for it, my symptoms (acne, excess hair, slight tummy) hadn't really improved all that much. She assured me I was fine, and that if I kept up on the IR diet, maintaining my weight, I would be fine.

Since then I've found out my testosterone levels are normal - which I was really happy about. I have put this down to Yasmin. After doing a bit of reading, I realised that it would take time before the effects of this improvement would come through. So, ok.

Now I went back to my GP to review everything, as I regularly do. I told him I was still a bit concerned about my symptoms, and this was his advice:
"Lose a bit more weight, but make sure you don't get an eating disorder, okay? I really think a few more kilos would help. But be careful".

What the hell? Who gives dietary advice like that? Is this really likely to make any difference to me?

I'm now seeing a naturopath, as I'm feeling slightly disgruntled with the normal medical system..

It sounds like you are doing all that is in your control to stay on top of things so if at that point you are still experiencing problems, then it sounds like something else might need to be done (maybe Metformin?) If it is possible, maybe a second opinion might help. I would also ask for advice in the Diet and Exercise forum as it gets a bit more traffic and I think you might find more cysters with experience in your situation. . .as in what is the next step. There are a few very knowledgeable women on the Alternative remedies board too, I have gotten great advice there too. And of course, the Metformin board. Good luck to you!

If your testosterone is normal, and your bloodwork is fairly normal, you could be in a more thin-cyster range which means weight isn't going to cause you to ovulate. I would try and endocrinologist NOT a primary care doctor. A reproductive or regular endocrinologist for sure.
