Hey- i am new to this site and i am new to pcos. Last week my wife went to the ob/gyn and was told she has pcos. We have been trying to conceive for the past 7 months but to no avail. we are desperate to have children and from what i have been reading online, pcos can make that very difficult. The dr. will take blood on day 21 and then probably prescribe clomid. What worries me is that it might not work and even if it does, i have been reading a lot about miscarriages. What are my chances of having a healthy baby? Am i overreacting or is this feeling of anxiety and insecurity about the future normal?
You're feelings couldn't be normal and am so happy you've come here for info. I am fairly new to the site myself and have already gained so much being here. Now I'm not a guy, but I can tell you that TTC without help can be tough, but with the right plan from the ob or RE docs, it is more than possible.... I became pg on my very first cycle of clomid... and although I'm still early, the docs are taking lots of precautions to help reduce the risk of miscarriage (Staying on metformin, progestrone supplements etc.) so I'm very helpful. BEST OF LUCK to you and your DW!

Have a 20 mth old boy here so don't give up hope, like the above post said, there are medications etc that can help prevent miscarraiges. Knowing about the pcos before becoming pregnant is a good start as you can seek certain treatment. 7 mths is not very long in ttc though, eventhough it may seem ages for you, Give it a year or two before you stress, you are in good hands.
Good luck with the TTC, and have fun trying.
Hello and welcome to the boards, I feel that i need to chime in here cuase i am alittle worried your not getting everything PCOS has to offer. Now that sounds like a used car dealer but hey i used to be one. There are alot of other thing to read and learn about then just it being harder to have children yes lots of people out there learn they have this from the ob/gyn we did too. And we too we wanting kids like no one out there but we had to take step back Comid so far as far as i know has not worked. What i am saying to you my brother in arms is this learn everything there is about this. For you and your wife your going to need it. And you going to love the fact there are people like me thats been going thru this and willing to talk to you about whats going on. Kids came second in my mind when the flood gates open and i needed to take care of my wife and Marriage. Ok rant off TMofB

It is nice to see men getting involved with their dw's PCOS. My advice to you is to read upon PCOS. Be an active role in the treatment, ask questions and do your homework. I was dx in July 2008 after dh and I had been ttc for 2 years. So I am fairly new as well but this group is very helpful and supportive. There are many women on this website that have had children, are curretly preggo or are trying. There is hope. Have faith! Best of luck to you=)
i have pcos and concieved my first naturally after 1 year of ttc , and i didn't have any problems! and the second was concieved on the second round of clomid! so not all women with pcos have a high chance of M/C!
Your chances are high!! I've read in a few places that about 70% of PCOS women go on to get pregnant. Miscarriage is more common with PCOS but that is a risk with any pregnancy.
I know when I first was Dx with PCOS I felt like my body was a failure and that I wasn't a true woman if I couldn't ovulate and concieve on my own. My husband did a great job of telling me that I'm woman inside and out and it wasn't my fault. There are SO many drugs/procedures they can do these days with infertility, so let's hope your wife responds to clomid and you don't have to worry about it for long!!
Good luck.

We have a very happy and healthy 5 month old. It sounds so scary to be diagnosed (or to have your wife diagnosed) with a leading cause of infertility but just check out the mommy boards, women with PCOS can have kids.
