Default New to PCOS/glucophage question/ long

Hi, I'm new. Sorry if this is all TMI, I figure if anyone can relate it would be you ladies.
I was diagnosed about 3 months ago. I had my first surgery 3 years ago. I had cysts on my ovaries, fallopian tubes and polyps in my uterus. My doctor at that time thought I had PCOS, did all the tests to confirm it but somehow forgot to tell me that I had it. She had me taking 2 heavy duty birth control pills every day to stop me from bleeding I did that for a year before she decided that it was too dangerous. I finally switched to a PCOS specialist when I saw a mystery diagnosis show on tv about 3 months ago.

I'm obese, I don't ovulate and I have insulin resistance. Usually, If I'm not on BCP (sometimes even when I am) I menstruate all the time so bad that I can't live my life. I also usually have intense cramps that also prevent me from living my life.

Since being treated by my new Doc, he's given me pills that stop the cramps and for some reason (we're not sure why) I'm not currently menstruating. I'm having a D&C in two weeks (the kind with a camera) and I'm scared to death about it. Also my miracle doctor put me on fish oil pills, cinnamon pills, and glucophage. I haven't taken any of them yet. I really don't know why I'm afraid to start taking the pills. I want to get better but I'm guess I'm nervous about having an upset stomach all the time. When I was taking double BCP I had an upset stomach all the time and I pretty much never left my house. I just don't want to deal with that any more. Does anyone on here take glucophage? Is it going to be as bad as I think it is?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SC!

Yes, sometimes Glucophage can make you pretty sick when you start taking it, but IMO, that's a trade-off well worth your long-term health. I'm not on it currently but I bet you could find a lot of info on the Metformin/Glucophage forum!
