Hi,
I know it can be scary, but you'll be alright. They probably will do a pelvic exam just to see everything is ok. Usually, the doctor will take you to the table pull a curtain around you, hand you a sheet and ask you to remove your bottoms and lay on the table with the sheet covering you. They'll leave the room for that bit. Then they'll come back in and tell you what to do from there. Pick a female doctor if you're worried. It's all very dignified if you have a nice doctor. Trust me, I've had a million pelvic exams and pap smears and such. They generally won't perform a breast exam. And you definitely won't have to strip naked. They will also probably do an ultrasound and probably a transvaginal ultrasound. The transvaginal one is much the same as the pelvic exam except they won't look down there at all...they will hand you the ultrasound 'wand' and ask you to 'put it in there'. They will also perform blood tests and ask you about your symptoms and such. If you're uncomfortable about going to the doctor and having things done down there, take your mum or an older sister in with you so you feel a little less uncomfortable and are sure everything is happening as it should be. I know it's uncomfortable, but if you do have PCOS, you need treatment...I went far too long without treatment and it can cause a lot of complications. And just remember, your doctor has seen it all before, it's nothing to be embarrassed about . Let me know how you go. Good luck.

Good luck hun and you will be fine It is rather daunting but you will feel so much more relieved when its done. I know exactly how you feel as i was 15 when i had to have a gynae visit for suspected endometriosis and i cried so much as i didnt want a male dr.
So if you feel uncomfortable with a male dr do go with a female.

*hugs* to you
