Question NEW TO PCOS and PROVERA

I am newly diagnosed, I am 29, and I have not had a period in years! Doc put me on Met, I did not like it. Doc put me on Provera yesterday because he is afraid that since I have not had a period in years that I am at risk for utereus cancer. He offered me BC pill, but I chose provera, my progesterone level is 1.4. What should I expect from this pill?

Thanks!
Tams

Default A Word of Advice

Hi!

I am also new to PCOS and Provera. I took my first round of Provera last month after hating Gluc. It was really weird for me. My period was VERY light and almost non-existant. I did notice that I had some weird mood swings, but nothing horrible. I am thinking about starting the Gluc XR after this summer. I have too much traveling to do to worry about the side effects of Gluc. Try the Provera-you may like it. Hope I helped.

Default Provera

I took Provera for 5 days and started AF on the 3rd day. I did not feel well taking Provera...sick to my stomach at times and very tired. My period has been extremely heavy and is going on 13 days now. It had been several months since I had a period on my own. I was also give bcp's which I started after I got my period.

Many women seem to take Provera and it works very well for them. I guess it's different for everyone!

Good luck!

I've taken Provera about 5 times now...never had any side affects or anything and I got AF each time, usuallly 7-10 days after taking my last pill.

I would definitely give Provera a try before bcp's because with Provera, you only have to take it once daily for about a week.

Good luck !
