Hi Everyone, I’m 25 and was diagnosed with POCs last year. I’m not on the pill as I’m fed up with putting hormones in my body. I’ve been using condoms with my long term boyfriend and we were both fed up to we stopped. We have been having unprotected sex now for 2 and a half months. During that time I had periods both months!!! But at the same time didn’t fall pregnant. We are not trying as its not the right time for us at the moment. Does anyone have any suggestions for contraception? Non-hormone based and not Condoms? Do you think we should carry one like we are? Ive spoke to the doctor and she was no help at all. Thanks for your help everyone!!
If you don't want to get pg, you need to be on some kind of contraception right away. Knowing what the odds are or aren't will not keep you from getting pg if the sperm hits the egg.
You can buy VCF contraceptive films at Wal-Mart, Target, drugstores, etc. They're pricey, but they worked for me before ttc.
Learning the Natural Family Planning method (NFP) also works well.

Hello-yeah you definitely want to get on something right away...not a good idea to take any chances...I've just gone off bc as well, and my dh and I aren't in a position to ttc either, so I picked up some sponges. They're not cheap, and not as effective as bc but worth a shot! I got them at Walgreens. Haven't acutally tried them yet so I can't give you first hand experience, but they say they block, absorb, and kill the sperm (spermicide is built in). Also they're good for up to something like 30 hrs. Good luck!
Thanks for your help. The VCF flims sound great! Thing is I live in the UK and we cant get them over here. I may have to order from the US. Or pop to the Pharmacy to see in they have sermacide.
The problem with Natural Family Planning method is that having POCs you dont know when your periods going to be. I have about 3 a year and I never know when so I dont think that with work with me!
