My doctor just put me on Prometrium 200 mg for 10 days. The 10th day was four days ago. I had some spotting the last 2 or 3 days that I was taking the Prometrium. The 3rd day after stopping the med I noticed a little heavier spotting but nothing I would call a period now I am not spotting at all. Is this normal or I guess I should say what is normal? How long does it take after you stop the Prometrium to start a real period. Could It be that maybe the Prometrium is not a high enough dose? Just a little history I've had to have 3 D & C's because of not having periods, had complex hyperplasia with atypia, was on Megace......finally after 3rd D&C all is ok. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Are you pregnant? That would be pretty sweet.
I have to start Prometrium on July 4th. Did it make you sick at all? I'm already pretty sick from Metformin, I hope I'm not going to add on anything that makes me feel worse...not until that clomid, anyway Good luck!
I'm on day 5 of 10 of prometrium to start my cycle so we can start our 1st round of clomid. This is the first time I have had it, when we were ttc our DS my dr gave me shots to induce my cycle. The side effects are worse today then they have been all week. Not sure if that is because I am about to start or just a bad day.
His nurse told me I should start during the 10 days and to stop taking the prometrium when I do. I asked what I do if I don't start and she said to call them. I haven't had AF since December 08, so i'm hoping this will do the trick.

When I first started on Prometrium my dr put me on 400mg for 14 days. It knocked me for a loop! Once I took it I'd have to go straight to bed. But it would often bring about AF before I even stopped. Now, though, I've been cut down to 200mg for 10 days. It usually takes me about a 3 days after taking it before AF comes. Although it has taken up to about 5 days before.
I finished the prometrium 3 days ago. No AF yet but my back hurts really bad today so I'm hoping it won't be long. I don't usually have many symptoms with AF, did anyone have stronger symptoms after taking the prometrium

Well the prometrium didn't really make me feel any different. I did start and have what seemed like the start of a normal period for ONE day. :-( They had to call me in BCPs to see if that would work better, which only made me start for ONE day, then bleeding stopped. IDK the MD said that any normal flow was considered a period and for me to start counting that as CD 1. ???? They had me take the clomid anyway counting my one day of flow as CD 1, had prog level checked, no ovulation. Confused

Jenn--Thanks for the update! I've been watching this thread hoping to hear something! Previously I have always used Provera to induce a period, but my new RE prescribed prometrium, and I took the last pill Sunday and still haven't started even spotting (it's now Wednesday). With provera I always started immediately after finishing the 10th pill or sometimes even on day 9, so having to wait has made me paranoid. Guess I'll wait a few more days before calling my RE to freak out! I'm dying to start this first cycle of Femara and the waiting is really killing me!

Hello everyone! I am new to the PCOS community and my Doc wanted me to start Prometrium. The problem Im having is I dont know when to start, and the more question I ask the more I am confused. Every month I spot for about a week and 1/2 then I woul have an actual period for 2 weeks, then I woul probably stop for about 2 or 3 weeks. So, the problem Im having is when do I start the prometrium? Please help if you can? Thanks
cortney, the doc told me that it can take up to 14 days to start but this time within 1 day of stopping the prometrium I started and had 2 days of regular bleeding :-) I think that maybe it takes time for your system to get used to the meds or something. I am on my 3rd day of 100 mg clomid *fingers-crossed and praying* I feel pretty good just reallly really emotional.

I was put on 100mg of prometrium and it was actually used to stop my bleeding. I was told to take it at night as it has a drowsy effect as well. While I was taking it I was completely regular, but you can't get pregnant taking it. I took it everyday straight for 3 months as per my gyne's instructions. But I had to go off it, and now they are using marvelon to induce a period with me, I'm on day 5 of that, have another 5 more and then wait to get a period
