My name is Cindy, I'm 29 yo. I had problems with heavy, irregular periods when I hit my 20s. When I was 22, I had surgery to remove an ovarian cyst removed along with part of my Fallopian tube. My doctor just put me on BCP to regulate my periods. Didn't really care at the time, was focusing on myself and if they stopped the month long bleeding I was okay with it. Fast forward to 2006, when I met my DH. We started TTC in spring 2008 but what a surprise. I didn't get my period at all so of course I wasn't ovulating. My GYN did a bunch of blood work, we got the diagnosis of PCOS. She wanted to start me on a bunch of drugs, including Metformin and Clomid. I only took the Clomid for a few cycles, just 50 mg. I knew I wasn't ovulating but my doctor didn't take my opinion into mind while choosing my treatment. So we stopped TTC so we could plan the wedding.
We got married 5/16/09 and now I have 2 wonderful stepsons. We also have 3 furbabies, a Doberman named King, a cat named Boots and our little hellfire in a kitten's body named Buttons. We are looking to add a new child to the family (or 2 if my DH agrees).
I went to a new GYN who looked at my medical history and did only a few blood tests. Thank goodness for the change in insurance, b/c I would have continued to see my old GYN. He said the bloodwork showed I didn't need the metformin or the other drugs my prev. dr wanted to put me on. He also wants to do an HSG before we start with Clomid. He suspects b/c of my history, I might have some blockages. No use trying Clomid if the egg and sperm can't meet. So hopefully things go well.
