Default New, scared and confused :(

Hey all cysters I'm 15 nrly 16 and just been diagnosed with PCOS today. I googled alot of the stuff but its all so daunting. i'm getting the unwanted weight gain round my tum & bum. I don't eat much at all and its all a bit confusing really! I have had about.. 5 periods since I started periods (that was about 3 years ago). and the facial hair and AWFUL mood swings. I am just new to all this and none of my friends or family don't know anything about this. I have an appointment on next monday with my doctor to discuss treatment but I broke down when I got home because there is alot of stuff about not being able to have children and its really sad because I want children so much! thanks, Chloe

Welcome Chloe!

I was diagnosed last month and I was terrified too. SC has a lot of great information and wonderful people. I have learned so much! I'm glad you were diagnosed young. I've had symptoms since I was your age and it took 10 years to get a diagnosis. I was overwhelmed at first and very upset thinking that I wouldn't be able to have children too. PCOS does not mean you can not have children, it just means you will need help. I'm 26 and I've been married 7 years. We have been trying to conceive (TTC) for over a year now and have even designated a room for the baby's nursery. My doctor prescribed Clomid to regulate my cycles and help me get pregnant. It's the first big step for us and we hope it works.

I also get embarrassing facial hair (hirsutism) and horrible acne. My mood swings drive my husband (DH) absolutely nuts, but it's the hormones that do it to you. My testosterone levels are very high. Your doctor will probably tell you to take a multi vitamin every day and prescribe birth control pills (BCP) to help regulate your cycles. Both should help with some of your other symptoms.

Just remember you're not alone!

Welcome CHloe x and big hugs!!! I have had pcos since i was 18 (i'm 27 now) and it does get you down, especially the hair and weight around the belly and like you no one i know totally understands so you feel so alone, which is why this site is great as all these ladies know how you feel and what your gona go through so it will really help!
Your doctor will be able to explain everything if you ask him/her. If your like me and get nervous around them then write down your questions before you go and then you'll be prepared.
just dont be afraid to ask anything you like on here, the ladies are sooooo lovely and you'll feel part of the family before you know it!what with being on here and learning from everyone By the time your ready to have kids you'll probably know more about pcos than your doctor does!!

Big hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello Chlobo93,
I to just got diagnosed with PCOS about 4 weeks ago, and am very overwhelmed and to tell you the truth a little down at times. Since finding this site, it has been very educational and not to mention the people on here are very welcoming. I just started treatment, and I'm looking forward to changes. I will keep you in my prayers. We are all going through this together, none of us is alone.
