Hi everyone!
my cousin told me about this site, she heard about it from one of her friends, and thought I should check it out. I am 24 and married and was officially diagnosed in October 2003. I am having a VERY hard time losing weight and would love for any helpful advice... I was taking metformin 1500mg/day and spironolactone 300mg/day and stopped taking it... I am currently working my way back on them... Anyways my problem is that I work in a residential program and so my work hours vary a lot, it is near impossible to ever have a routine down because of the job. I have tried curves, but i got frustrated that I was not losing any weight. I eat healthy as often as I can, but I am never able to cook for myself due to the job. I have stayed pretty steady at 240 for a long time, but am looking to loose upwards of 80-100 pounds. (I am only 5'2). Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I get so discouraged when diets or workout plans dont work... I know i dont have the best eating habits, but when my friends are all toothpicks and eat more than myself it kicks me in the ass. Thanks in advance...

Do you have Insulin Resistance? Are you watching your carbs? I would encourage you to check out the Diet/Weight Mgt. board. Lower carb diets (cutting out rice, white bread, potoates, sugar, etc.) can have a significant impact on your weight loss.

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction by getting back on your meds. It is hard to try and diet when you do not have a steady routine. But try to link your proteins and healthy carbs as much as possible when you eat. Even if you lose weight slowly, every pound loss helps you to get closer to your goal and to being a healtier you.
