Hi, I found out in Nov,04 that I have pcos after many years of abnormal periods. Like many people I have read on this site ( I just found the site tonight ) I am fustrated, in pain , and overwhelmed. My fiancee is very understanding but I feel like Im making him insane with my constant complaining. He says Im not but I dunno. My dr put me on 10 days a month provera for 3 months and did a bunch of blood tests. I was sent to a specialist GYN. Who said I have PCOS and gave me 2 more months of provera after the 3 months ran out ( I saw her in dec ) and to get a yearly pap smear and have a nice day? My family dr isnt one for talking and discussing things so when I do see him he just says uh huh and gives me some pills ( or atleast thats how I feel ) I dont know how to make him listen to me or what I spose to be asking/telling him. The provera isnt making me feel better thats all I know. I orginally had gone to him with the complaint of having my period for 17 days straight with huge clots and heavy flow. before that I was pretty normal for about a yr ( all my life I have had either very heavy periods or no period for many months ) The provera is making me "on time" but Im still having a heavy/clotting period for 10+ days. Im on day 8 today and my uterus/overy area of my body hurts so bad that it doesnt matter if im sitting, laying, standing ect it just hurts. Its making me feel insane. My dr has me on midrin for these constant headaches I have been getting for a year now, he says it is tension. He has me on lotrel for my bloodpressure, levoxyl for my thryoid ( he orginally said my headaches and abnormal period was because of my thryoid ) and now the provera. I havent tried BCP because I would like to have a baby sometime soon if at all possiable. But at this point Im thinking of giving up that hope. I have a 14 yr old son but my soon to be husband has never had children and we both would love to have one ( another ). If anyone has any suggestions on what questions I should be asking my Dr ( the kind drs will listen to? ) or what meds. I should ask him to try to make my periods not so intense I would be very greatful.
Thank you to whoever made this site. Just knowing there are other women like me helps.
