Hello! My name is Tammy and I was dx with mild pcos in 2000. My entire life I was thin and athletic and my cycles were like clockwork...until I was about 23. I had started taking bcp's and immediatly gained weight (while working out) and it all snow-balled from there. I think that was the point where my pcos was awakened, so to speak. Since then I've gained quite a bit of weight. I had issues ttc. I have had insulin resistance which I took metformin for. I changed my diet to low carb/no sugar and lost 37lbs in 3mos! Since then we've had two beautiful children and we have two babies in heaven. Since about 24yrs old my cycles have been a bit irregular...going from 25days to 50days. In January I started working out and since then my cycles have been like clockwork again! YAY! I was tested for IR about 10months ago and my levels were normal. I think the key for me, since my tests are always borderline, is exercise and a good diet. I do have minor excessive hair....a few strands on my chin and a litte more hair than I want on my arms. I hate it and wish it would go away. Since I havent been ttc in a couple of years I havent been tested for anything. I wonder if I should get some bloodwork done again just to see where everything is?
Anyway...sorry for such a long intro. I look forward to chatting with some women who are going through the same frustrations as me.
