I'm new to the board, though I've known I've PCOS for about seven or eight years. It's had a lot of ups and downs and now I'm at a weird place in it and thought I'd get around to joining a group relating to it.
About me...I'm a 22 year old college junior in Florida (I'm from Pittsburgh, PA) majoring in Religious Studies and International Relations, with a minor in Creative Writing. I have two lovely mini-dachshunds and just purchased a chinchilla. I love horror _anything_ and am really big on music. I used to be fluent in Italian and semi-fluent in Latin, though not using either for a while has not helped any. My favorite place in the world so far is Tunisia.
Um, about my PCOS...I've been healthy weights and overweight, though never obese. I have really bad acne and body hair problems. I'm insulin resistant. My doctors had a hard time diagnosing it because I pretty much have every symptom except irregular periods.
I'm currently on Metformin and birth control (I just switched to YAZ after an utterly shocking 15-day period last month, something I have never experienced before and hope to never experience again). I've tried...a whole slew of pills, of course, and none of them really do much for me. The best I've ever been was senior year of high school, when I was at the lowest of my healthy-weights for a while and most of my symptoms just stopped. But the stress of college sort of screwed that up ^.^
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know people and sharing experiences/advice with people!
