Hey all, I'm new around here so I just wanted to introduce myself if you guys don't mind. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was around 15/16 years old, and I have to say, I think I handled it pretty well

. My doctor told me that some of the patients he has had who are dealing with PCOS have broken down and refused to accept it for a while. As for me, I think i was kind of relieved to be told I had PCOS b/c it meant that there was a reason for all the strange things that were happening to me. I always had trouble losing weight but never any trouble gaining it. I had excess facial and body hair and a menstrual system that was completely psycho!
I've been on Yasmin (BCP) for a while which has helped regulate those crazy periods. I've also been on Metformin 500mg which I take 1/2 a tablet per day. I also take iron deficiency pills along with my PCOS meds. However, I've been on Metformin for a while and haven't noticed any changes at all. I plan to see my doctor soon and ask if he could up my dosage.
Anywho, sorry for making this so long. I was just SO happy to find a place where there are other women like me. I have never met anyone with PCOS so when I found this site I was so excited. I think I've learned more from soulcysters than I have from the many doctors I have visited regarding PCOS
