I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. Well of sorts!! Went to doctors as periods were practically non exsistant, also been TTC for about a year and a half. So was finally dragged to the docs by my fiance. As I ve read a lot of docs tried to put me on the contraceptive pill. I was pretty firm so she finally agreed to investigate the matter. Had blood work, higher testostrone levels so they referred me for an ultrasound. At the ultrasound it was confirmed that it was PCOS. She advised that she would send a report back to my doctor. I have called the doctor since they have had the results but I was advised that it was just to go on my records and brushed off. Just wondering if this was the normal course of action taken. I feel a little bit left out in the cold by them at the moment and they are making me feel like I m making a big deal about it. I really would like to see my doctor just to sit and talk about PCOS and conceiving. My partner and I have decided to take a break from ttc for a little while so we can get our heads around all of this at the moment. I was told at the ultrasound to go back to the doctors when I wanted to try for a baby. So I suppose I just wanted a bit of advice not really sure where to go from here. Since finding out everything that I know about PCOS has come from internet research, however trusting that may be!, I realise that a balanced healthy lifestyle and exercise is important so I have grasped this with both hands and am more healthy and active than I have ever been. I realise since being diagnosed how important it is to look after myself now. So, to cut a long story short! Do I go back to sit down and talk or do I just go back when I need to? I dont really understand. All this is a lot to take in and research!!!
Welcome from another newbie! I have just been diagnosed myself. I'm not an expert by any means but I think you should set up an appointment with your doctor to discuss the results and to make a plan since it's obvious you and your partner want to be parents.
Your doctor can prescribe medicine to help kickstart your ovulation and increase your chances of conceiving. Do a little research on Clomid.
Also, from what I've read Metformin is something you need to talk to your doctor about.
I would research both of those medications and then insist on an appointment with your doctor. If you still feel like you are being cast aside, I recommend getting a copy of your file from your current doctor and finding a new one.
It's probably a good idea to go back and talk. I didn't get all of my questions answered, and it's the most frustrating feeling! I need to go back and get a LOT of clarification.
Welcome to SC ::
I would DEF. go back to your doctor if you are left with questions. If your doctor doesnt want to help you, then you need to find a new one because that is what they are there for. I cant even tell you how many times i call or go in to my doctor because i am unsure of what is going on with my body. You will find a lot of information on SC, but it is still best to get a personal opnion from your doctor. Have you looked into going to see a Reproductive specialist??

Thanks very much for all your comments and advice! it is much appreciated.
Things have changed since the last post. Woke up two days ago with unbelievable pain in my pelvic area, back and all down one side. Physically could not get out of bed! Had to call out the doctor, he was shocked that I hadnt been called in for a follow up appointment. Now have to go back for follow up and a referral to a gyno for a secondary examination to find out what the pain is all about. So yet another problem!! But just have to carry on with it I suppose!! Again thanks to everyone for the advice.
