Hello, i am new to the site, diagnosed with pcos in may 2007. considered it once before 8 years ago and was rudely told the only way to diagnose was to take out ovaries and disect them (have never seen that doc again!)
i have three boys (all were conceived within 2nd month of taking bcp and never used bcp before or after these two pregnancies)
my problem is not stopping a period. i missed one in sept oct 06 and had a + preg test. around thanksgiving took test to show parents and it was -. the next day passed many large clots and bled on and on for two months. went to dr (finally) and the blood test they did showed i was never pregnant. put me on provera and it only made the bleeding worse.
i have been taking provera since may 07 for 15 days each month along with motrin 800 mg daily. still no stopping of periods. there is no pain, no symptoms whatsoever than all of a sudden i am sitting in a bloody pool of clots.
just had a month of 3 weeks of no period and started up again. followed up with dr and was put on a no estrogen bcp. immediately started bleeding with clots again.
can not figure anything out other than i do not want to do this another year. and can not understand the differences in my problems.
new to site, many many issues 
so sorry that dr was so terrible to you !! I dont know the answer, sorry, but im sure someone will be able to help
