Angry New to this site/ multiple pg loss

[font=arial][size=3][color=darkblue]

I'm new to this site so i guess an introduction is in order. My story is long so please bear with me.

I had my first son when i was 20 yrs old. It was a pretty much problem free pg with the exception of toxemia and gestational diabetes. But then again, i was young and to me that was problem free.

I concieved my second child in Dec of 99. I went on to m/c the end of january 2000. The doctors kind of shrugged it off and gave me the percentages of how many women m/c..blah blah blah.

I got another positive hpt in january of 2001. The day of my first dr appointment i started bleeding. I went in to the dr, they did a urine test that came up neg. they then did a blood test and it came up less than 5 so they determined that this pg was a chemical pg.

I got pg yet again in august of 2002. At 14 weeks i was diagnosed with a grade 4 placenta previa with a major bleed. I was told not to be too concerned over the bleed because the fetal loss p % were so low just to stay on bedrest and no pelvic activity..aka no sex. At 23 weeks i went in becuase i was concerned about no movement. I had an u/s and was told that baby was fine and moving great, i was just not feeling it due to the position of my placenta. I was told to come back at the end of the week and we would check again. Went back, was told once again everything was fine and i had nothing to worry about. Three days after that appointment i started having what i thought were braxton hicks contractions. When they became regular, i had my husband drive me to the ER. I was immediately taken to L&D. I was hooked up to the monitors and the nurse could not find a heartbeat. We waited for the DR to get there to perform an u/s. We found out on January 21, 2003 that our son had died. William Justin Curry was born still on that day at 4:30 am. He weighed in at just under 1lb and was 11 1/2 inches long. He was absolutely beautiful. Autopsy results and all other testing showed that there was no cause as to why this happened.

We decided to go ahead and try again. When january came around and i was still not pg, i was referred to an RE by my OB. the regular tests were performed and i was diagnosed with PCOS with insulin resistance and was put on 500 mg of metformin twice daily. I was scheduled to have an ovarian u/s performed. During the u/s, a pg was discovered. This was on feb 17 2003. I had my levels drawn and first levels came back at 1700. Levels a week later were at 16000. I had my first u/s scheduled for the 23rd of feb. The u/s showed a gestational sac. Rescheduled u/s for next week. The next u/s showed only a gestational sac. Scheduled another u/s for the 5th of march. This u/s too showed only a gestational sac measuring in at 8 wks and it was beginning to collapse. I had D&C performed that afternoon.

All of this brings me here. I am so saddened by all of my losses and am myself at a loss as to where to turn. My RE is now saying that the undiagnosed PCOS and insulin resistance along with being overweight and having low progesterone are all to blame for my m/c.

Sorry to make this so long. Just needed to get it all out.

You can visit my son's website at www.babiesonline.com/babies/w/williamjustin

for his entire story as well of pics of my family.

Vanessa,

I'm so sorry about your loses, I too have had 2 m/c, I think the hardest thing is waiting when you feel something is wrong.

You've come to the right place. These ladies are great here and they are very incouraging despite all their difficulties.

I m/ced before I was Dx and my periods were very sluggish I acually think I O'd very late in both cycles, I never had any Pg symptoms and M/ced @11 wks.

Now I'm on Metformin 1000 a day and my cycles are like clock work. I'm not TTC, but if an accident should happen I'd be willing to bet I'd have a better outcome.

Are your cycles regular and did you continue meds during Pg?

God Bless Dear

I'm so very sorry for your losses. (((Hugs))) It's so unfair that any of us should go through miscarriages, much less multiple ones.

It sounds like you have a good doctor now though- who knows about PCOS. Which is a good start for you to try again. I had a miscarriage due to low progesterone, and I was so angry that my PCOS body could do that to me. The information off this site in combo with a truely wonderful doctor has gotten me pregnant again, and I've made it to my first milestone (14weeks) by taking 2550mg of Met (850 3x a day), progesterone therapy for my entire pregnancy, and baby asprin, every morning, to help avoid a clotting disorder that "could" cause later miscarriages (I will stop them at 18 weeks).

I'm glad you found this site! Many of us have been through similar things, and there is a wealth of information and support to be found on this board.

Good luck to you!

So sorry to hear about your problems. I too had a classic first pregnancy with no problems. Since then I have had three m/c...with no explanation. I just had my third D&E on 3/5. Still trying to bounce back from that! I have no energy at all.

In a few weeks I am going in for tons of blood work to see if they can detect something that is causing all of this.

Best wishes to you and keep checking the posts...they are very information, educational, and supportive.

Vanessa,
These little sweeties will be with us forever. Your son William was adorable, and my daughter was just a few ounces larger, so I know how cute they are in person.
I just hope that with a little work and lots of luck you are able to feel the joy of motherhood once again. It has been metformin and low carbing that got my body healthy enough to conceive. Many cysters need much more help. Whatever works for you and DH, I hope you find it soon.

I also want to send you a (Big Hug).
We're here for you,
Sheri
