Hi my name is Jenette and I have diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 17 I am 23 now and I was so scared and angry because ever since i can remember I wanted 5 children and now its like settling in that i wont be able to. I am supposed to take met formin and spirolactone but i havent in like 2-3 years. I hated the side effects so i quit taking them but now I want to get back on track and i was wondering since i havent taken them for that long will they still work....

sure they will work if you start taking them again, I thought I would never have any children either, but we are getting ready to TTC our last baby, I have Hypothyroidism, Severe Insulin Resistance, PCOS, and I am way over weight, and in the process of trying to lose 40lbs to get down to 200 so maybe I can get pregnant again.
The meds will work if you take them, they work for me, I feel like crap with out my Glucophage XR (metformin), right now I am trying to get my thryoid meds straightened out, There are alot of knowledgable women on here who can help you, keep posting. Check out the Glucophage/Metformin forum, here is the link http://www.soulcysters.net/metformin/
Here is the link to Other Medications, IE Spiro http://www.soulcysters.net/other-medications/
You can ask your questions there, I am sure someone will answer.
Welcome To Soulcysters, Keep Posting!!!!

Welcomw to SC. Stick with the meds, they will help and the side effects should fade away when your body is used to them. Good luck. I thought I would never have children after seeing the u/s of my ovaries and the state they were in but I got PG without trying so anything is possible. Research is the key, there is alot of useful stuff on SC. x
