I am so glad to have found this website. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1997. However the doctor who diagnosed really didn't offer any options about treating the symptoms. She only told me that I would have a difficult time getting pregnant and would need to use fertility meds. Both of my children were conceived on Clomid. Since that time I just assumed that I would have to put up with the other problems (grin and bear it sort of thing). I did go to an OBGYN once because of hair loss problems and he was less than sympathetic. His only response to the problem was to say " Well, your not going to go bald." After that bad experience, I have been very hesitant to visit any doctor about my problems. But the past few weeks I have been feeling quite bad, experiencing some palpitations in my heart and tremors and bad depression. I finally decided that I had to go to the doctor. He suggested it may be a thyroid problem. When I mentioned the PCOS he told me that thyroid problems sometimes go along with it and also that I should be on Metformin. He ordered a ton of bloodwork and I am supposed to see him again this week. Anyway, I had not heard anything about using Metfomin to treat PCOS problems so of course I came to the internet and found all of you. It has been such an encouragement to read some of the posts and know that there are people who have felt the same way that I have felt for so many years. I hope that I can get some answers and some support from some of you. Anyone have experience with thyroid problems that you would be willing to share?
