Hi everyone

My name is Jennifer and I was diagnosed with PCOS in April of this year. I didn't any symptoms besides gaining 20 lbs and my absence of my period (haven't had one that wasn't provera-induced since late March). To be honest, I'm scared because I don't know what to expect from this.

My gyno gave me the nuva ring but I never tried it mainly because of the side effects I've heard about, plus, I really am kind of enjoying not having my period......but I know that it could really mess me up in the long road.

I'm so happy that I found this board, because I've never met anyone else that has this, so it feels really good to be able to discuss my fears and ask questions to people that know that I'm going through.

Hi electricwonder ...I used the Nuvaring for 2 years. Was given it because BCP gave me migraines and was told as Nuva doesn't go through your liver like BCP then it would be better to take. Didn't actually do much for migraines (now don't take any kind of BCP or Nuva and get hardly any migraines so I now know it was the hormones that were upsetting me whether they went through my liver or not). But have to say it didn't give me any other probs in terms of side-effects. Was really easy to use and didn't have to worry about remembering to take it like BCP as it only has to be removed every 3 weeks (though can use back to back if don't want a period) Only thing I noticed was that's when my skin flared up with a bit of acne (never really had it before) and now that I've stopped everything it's at it's worst, so maybe BCP taken in the past was doing something without me realising as had been on BCP for a long time with no PCOS symptoms, and Nuva wasn't as good for acne as hormones don't go through the entire body only the pelvic area.
