Default New to Spironolactone!

I was recently prescribed Spiro and I was just wondering if anyone had anything to say about it? I've heard some different things about it from different people and I was really just wondering how effective it will be. I have a pretty bad case of facial hair, in a beard like pattern, and have to shave or trim it up every morning.

Anyone have any advice, or information on side effects others have experienced?

From the stickies at the top of the HAIR forum: How Do Flutamide, Spironolactone/Aldactone work (or not work) to reduce hirsutism?

Yeah, I've read that but I was actually more interested in what other people who tried spiro thought of it, instead of just "how it works" as described in the thread you posted above.

Thank you, though.

No prob.

Did you run a search in this forum, or scroll through some of the pages? Members have been posting here about Spiro for nearly 10 years. There are tons of threads with 'thoughts on spiro'.

You might also want to check the Research forum for studies.

Just on a personal note: I found that Flutamide combined with lifestyle changes was a better 'fit' as an anti-androgen for me. I can't recall how long I stayed on spiro, but I'm glad I switched. Many women have success with spiro, however.

Thank you so much! I'll try searching it. I haven't quite caught on to this site yet. I just joined today! Sorry for any inconvenience.
