Thread: New and Still in Denial

Default New and Still in Denial

Hi everyone...I've been lurking in this forum for some time though I just signed up. I'm 31, from Singapore, thin and diagnosed with PCOS since Sept 2006. I went off the pill in July 2006 TTC and didnt get my period till Nov 06. I've also always had acne problems which got worse after getting off the pill. Before I went on the pill, my periods come every 6 weeks. Now it's every 8 weeks. I'm reluctantly on metformin, as it makes me lose weight and I don't think I should be losing anymore. I still have this dream of conceiving naturally, but after reading thru what many people have written here, I think I'm in denial and should get more help and understand more about my condition. What are the chances for skinny cysters on met getting pg? How can I control my acne without using Retin-A, differin and antibiotics while TTC?

Welcome to SC. I can't help with the weight, as I am nowhere near a "thin cyster", but I can tell you that to control acne, try an egg white facial once a week. Just whip egg whites to soft peak, apply to face and let dry. Rinse.

Denial is common w/PCOS. It is a lot to deal with. I hope we are able to help you here. Don't give up hope, I had my DS w/no drugs or treatments. It can happen! And there are many options if you do end up needing help. Take care.

I am still in denial and I was dx years ago. I stomp my feet and thow fits everyday and it just doesn't help. A lot of the treatment for PCOS is trial and error...It stinks that we have to go through everything that we have too. I too can't help you out, because I am not a "thin cyster", but I believe there is a forum here where thin cysters go to chat. I am sure they can help you out and answer some of your questions. Good luck and I hope someone helps you find the answers you want.

    Hi Huiching

This link, which is also in my signature, rang so true for me (http://www.pcosworldwidesupport.com/5stages.html). I was only diagnosed in May, yet it seems a long time ago already! I definitely have days of denial, tears about how unfair life is, but luckily I also have days where I decide to tackle it all head on. I try to channel these and use it to my advantage.

I am not sure what to suggest about your skin as I am more hairy rather than suffering from acne. It may be worth discussing the metformin with your Dr? Is it because you are insulin resistant?

Again, I don't know what to suggest but we are all here if you need to chat. It may be worth posting these questions in specific ACNE and Metformin forums also on this board?

Huiching. I know that Metformin has helped my acne problem already. I was still getting outbreaks pretty regularly in my 40's.

Hi...I wanted to lend you some support and possible hope. Although it ended in m/c I did conceive naturally 5 years ago when I was much lighter than I am now. So, it certainly CAN happen. Of course, it'd be good to be on top of the condition anyhow by working with a doctor you trust. Good luck to you!
