I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with.. I was diagnosed with PCOS and I have dark thick hair growing on my neck and chin. I am semi light skin colored and the hairs growing on my neck/chin are jet black. Ive been tweezing for the last 4 years of my life but its starting to really scar my neck, I cant shave because all it does is leave black stuble, and my skin is too sensitive for bleaching products. I dont want to keep tweezing because I dont want to be any more scarred then I already am. So does anyone have any suggestions on what else I could do?
Its gotten to the point to where I want to cry when I look in the mirror and see my neck/chin.
I know how you feel! I shave every day. A lot of ladies say that the men's shavers, like Norelco, work well on sensitive skin and effectively remove the hair. I just bought one, and haven't really used it much, but I noticed that it did not irritate me nearly as much as regular shaving. Also, to address the hair growth, are you taking any meds or herbals like metformin, spironolactone, BC pills, vitex, saw palmetto etc? These meds or herbals can help with hair (this is based upon what I've read). If you are overweight, Weight loss might also help with the hair, but it is difficult for us cysters. Strength training helps with the weight issue and speeds up our slow metabolism.
I can completely relate with the neck and chin hair (as well as chest and stomach). I usually use a concealer on my neck/chin and a light/medium coverage powder foundation. It really helps to mask the scars and hair spots.
I hope you find something that works for you!
hi Tina U. have you considered having laser hair removal done? i just started taking spiro and have had two sessions of laser on my upper lip. i still have hair but i noticed after my last treatment the darkest and thickest ones have not come back yet. hope this helps.
I have thought about laser hair removal but the couple of places that I have called said that with PCOS I shouldnt even bother getting Laser hair removal done because it will just come right back.. they told me not to waste my money so I just figured that that was out of the question.

Well there are plenty of girls on this board who have had success, including myself, so that is a load of crap. Now, if you get laser its important to treat your PCOS... that is, get your hormones within a normal range.
