Wink New Thin, but "globby" cyster.

Ok, so I was diagnosed yesterday and am looking for someone to relate to and get dietary advice from. I am 5'3 and 130 pounds. I had noticed that over this past year my body just wouldn't respond to exercise and diet in the same way it use to.I also have lumped up fat on my belly (of course) and also my outter arms and hips. My Hips are actually the worst, one side is lumped up much more than the other and I can't seem to get reaults losing fat in these areas. Does anyone else have issues with fat "lumping" up on your body? Just curious.

Specifically what type of exercise are you doing, and how often?

Mostly walking and some elliptical. I also do pilates. I was doing pilates everyday and cardio every other day, but have been out of routine for about a month. I was getting frustrated by the lack of results and slacked off.

Two words: Strength training.

Here's a great article: ARTICLE: 50 tips from top trainers

From the article:

Quote:
“For flat abs, work your thighs. Adding lean muscle to large muscle groups like your thighs boosts metabolism and helps you melt fat off of your entire body—belly included.”
—Jackie Warner, owner of Sky Sport & Spa and star of Bravo’s Workout

“Lift the heaviest weights you can once a week. To see that great definition, you have to kick your own butt once in a while. For your other weekly strength session (yes, you need at least two), you can use lighter weights.”
—Teddy Bass(Clients: Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu)

“Try a mini triathlon at the gym—hit the treadmill for 10 minutes, then the bike, then the rowing machine or stair climber. You’ll get results twice as fast because of the variety.”
—Gregory Joujon-Roche

Lift more weight. “Many women use dumbbells smaller than their engagement ring,” says Gunnar Peterson.
Also, please join us over at FitCysters! We just started an end-of-year fitness 'bootcamp'. It's for all levels from walkers to runners, and everyone in between. The last Soulcysters bootcamp was a major success (and a lot of fun).

The details are here: http://www.fitcysters.com/

There's also a pilates group, as well as, a walking group.

I have noticed similar weight gain myself.....before going off bc a little over a year and a half ago, I was 5'7" and 140, now I'm 155. I've gained the most weight in my hips, but definitely noticed it in my upper arms as well, and I've gotten a little pudgy belly. I'm a vegetarian, and think my diet is pretty healthy. I've been going to the gym for a year now, and I'm frustrated because I can't seem to lose the weight.......I've just been able to maintain it.
