Hello! I'm so glad I found this site as I can't find anything on net to help me understand lean PCOS.
My husband and I have been actively ttc for 4.5 years. We have been through everything including 10 rounds of clomid, Femara, ovarian drilling, metfromin, injections with timed bd, injections with iui and all negative. I was also diagnosed with prolactinoma in 2008 when a CAT scan detected a non cancerous tumor on my pituitary gland that is now under control. I have all the classic symptoms on PCOS including severe cystic ovaries, acne and mild hair growth.
I am now currently on my tww with my 3rd found of follistim with timed bd and feel as if I'm starting to lose hope ;( Any success stories or encouragement would be great!
hey Nik25...I don't have an inspirational story for u as I have not had success yet either. I did want to say hang in there and don't lose hope. I have heard some incredible stories of women who have absolutely defied the odds and become pregnant when they least expected. It's a long, hard road and you sound so strong for hanging in there. Keep your chin up...and best of luck during this TWW.
Thanks Indiancyster!!! I'm trying I just don't know anyone who has gone through this as long as I have. I almost feel like its tearing me and hubby apart because its so stressful sometimes. I'm keepin my head up though and will be praying for bfp!!!!
I completely understand...TTC definitely can take a toll on your relationship. I heard this story the other day about a woman who had been trying for 22 years when she finally got her BFP!!!!! 22 years?!?! WTF. I just don't know if I would be able to do that. I mean I guess I would have given up at that point. Just goes to show that no matter how long we feel it's been, some people have always been trying for longer. 22 years...geez! She was saying how she wanted another baby but since it had taken them 22 years to conceive the first, they were just too old at that point. Wow. I admire her strength.
I admire your's too. Hang in there, lady...your time will come! Do you temp and chart and all that good stuff? Are you taking any supplements to help your body along? Have u thought about trying any of the Eastern medicine techniques like acupuncture to strengthen and balance your body as a whole?
Wow! 22 yrs is a long time!!! I'm glad she finally got here bfp
I'm taking prenatals along with extra folic acid and eat a VERY good diet. I have been eating right for about 6 yrs and taking vitamens for about 6 months. I dont do temp charting or anything because I am being monitored by the docs. What is your current regimen?
So my current regimen includes: daily monitoring of my BBT (basal body temp) and charting; healthy, fertility-friendly eating; taking FertilAid for women (my hubs is taking FertilAid for Men)...this is my first month trying the FertilAid...sometimes adding extra vitamin E, folic acid and an Omega supplement; acupuncture since about January and recently got a couple massages designed to enhance fertility (one was to cleanse the body and the second one was to enhance the blood and make sure there was good circulation going to the pelvic/uterine area...both were amazing); fertility-enhancing yoga a few times (I bought a DVD to use at home but haven't used it that much yet).
Are u on any meds yet? My doc prescribed Metformin back in January but I haven't started taking it yet. Wanted to try and do it all-natural first to see if that made any difference in my cycles.
Yes I am on Bromocriptine for excess prolactin levels. I used to be on metformin for 3 years and was constantly sick! Severe abdoman pain and lots of nausea. My new RE just took me off of it since I'm not IR and not over weight. Life feels so much better without it! I am also thin and it made me lose 10lbs and people thought I was anorexic untill they saw how much I actually eat!
My sis just called me a few days ago and told me about acupuncture at a really good price. I think I might give it a whirl!
Have you checked his lil swimmers? That could be the problem too. Good luck I hope you get your BFP soon.

Well 2 years ago the were very high when we had the SA, but the day of the iui the count had dropped to 5.5 mil. The doc said that maybe hubby had gotten sick and had fever the month before causing that to happen.. Maybe I should talk to RE about that.
I am thin non IR PCOS too and my RE says we are just really really hard patients. I'm right there with you, I feel like I can take one step forward and two steps back. I really love femara when I can ovulate on it but that is inconsistent, although I got pregnant with it on my second round. I also have responded like gang busters to follistim but almost too well. Menopur for me is like shooting up saline but my RE insists on using it. I'm going to ask to use a follistim/femara protocol to see if I can respond to that before moving onto IVF. My RE says that sometimes that's the only option for thin PCOSers.
Anyway, just wanted to say.. I feel your frustration

Hey Juno!! You are the first person that I have heard so far that come very close to my situation. I have never had a bfp though I never get AF on my own either. I am about to start my 4th round of injections and hopefully i wont over respond... hate when that happens. Did you say that your doc said that the Femara/follistim combo works best for thin pcos'ers?? Also are you on metformin?
