New, Thin & just prescribed Metformin Hi all, I just finished 3 rounds of Clomid (after a year of ttc on our own naturally) I was not monitored at all, and took 50mg all 3 months. Yesterday I had my dr. appt. since starting the clomid. Dr. handed me script for Metformin & told me to back in 3 months.
(Quick HX: I'm 6'ft/145lbs, went off the BC *Yasmin* which I was only on for a year before we got married. I've also got hair that's growing in the wrong places (chin, abdomen, & at 30 years old, I still have acne, on my face, back & chest & can't remember when I didn't have acne)
I'd initially suspected I may run into problems ttc since my sister has PCOS & had to have help with all 4 of her kids (1 IUI & the other 3 were concieved with Metformin alone & as it turns out, she had 4 kids in 5 years!!)
My ob appointment last year,I'd asked the Dr. about TTC, I mentioned to her about my sister who has been DX'd PCOS. She took one look at me & told me "You don't have it, I can tell by your body". No labs were taken, she simply told me to come back in 6 months if I didn't get pregnant.
Fast forward to this past June- due to getting on my husbands ins. plan, I had to change Dr.'s. This past year I have skipped my period 4 times, and it hasn't been because I'm pregnant. Last June, Dr. gave me script for Clomid, and I did have some labs done & a vaginal U/S due to burning pain in my right abdomen. All came up clear.
Now Dr. gave me Metformin to take for the next 3 months, & if no pregnancy, then he'll refer me to an RE. I'm getting a little ticked that there seems to be more going on. I look at my sister & know that there's hope, and it's funny how I'd had a strange suspicion all along that when we did start trying, it wouldn't be easy.
Should I be insisting on anything more than just being patient? Is this how ot goes in the beginning of infertility?
BTW, when I'd told my sister of the Met, she told me she got pregnant the first month she went on it!! I'm really not going to give my hopes up-as she & I do have different issues- she is & has always been overweight.
Sorry If I rambled & thanks for reading. Any advice would be appreciated!! |
