Default New to the TTC game! Anyone Else!

Hi Everyone!

Was wondering if there was anyone else who is just starting this journey who wants to join in, or anyone who hasn't been at it that long! Would love to have a friend or two who is at the same crossing as me (although, everyone is welcome)

A little about me, I am new to the TTC thing, infact, i have just gotten off BC, this will be my first cycle off, and we are going to be activley trying in April, 2007 (it took a while to get DH on board). That will give me a couple of months... maybe i will have one AF in that amount of time! I was dx PCOS in 1998. i have never been overweight, and do not have very many symtpoms at all. I was put on BC before being dx because of an iregular cycle and TERRIBLE cramps... it wasn't til later that they found the cysts with u/s. I am charting to see when i o and am hoping i can do this without meds.

excited to hear about you!

Hi,

Welcome! I'm not new to this, but you can check out the thin cysters ttc thread for some ideas to help you along. You sound a bit like me. Thin, not many symptoms. I was able to conceive with Met alone(which is not considered a fertility med, but helps regulate your cycle). Have you been to a reproductive endrocrinologist? Have you read Taking Charge of your Fertility? Good luck!

Thanks!

I haven't seen an RE, i am not even sure what they do. My dr. is a fertility specialist, but i am going to try by myself first, before i use meds or anything. I am not sure what met is either. i hear lots of people talk about it, but i do not know what it is or what it does. And i haven't read taking charge yet. (there are too many books to read... lol...) i did do a charting course on Fertiliy Friend to help me know what the fertile signs are and how to read the BBT chart. Right now i am very hopeful, maybe too hopeful... we will see how it all works out.

Your children are beautiful! Good luck to you too!

Hello AsMay,

I have been trying to conceive for about 9 months now, but I was just diagnosed with PCOS in November. I am only taking Metformin hopefully to induce ovulation, but I think I occasionally ovulate on my own. The metformin has really helped. My skin is clearer and I'm not hungry all the time. Before I was on it, I always felt like I was starving. The only bad thing is I think more of my hair is falling out because of it.

I'm also 25 (husband 44). Hope we can chat more and I'll be reading your posts on the TTC 2007 board. I haven't posted on there in awhile and I don't know if I will.

Hope to chat with you soon.

Carrie

Carrie, Hi! I am sorry about the meds making more of your hair falling out... that is never any good. I am on no meds right now, so i am not real familiar with any of them. And i feel like i am hungry all the time too! (i know you said you used too...) but i don't ever have an appetite to eat... bleh!... I know several girls on the TTC post have conceived while using just met! maybe this will work for you!

~~babydust~~ to you!

And it is nice to meet you... we will start TTC actively in April/May... We prefer not to have a baby near Christmas, because we were both born near Christmas (both of us are withing 10 days of the holiday) and we have many family members that were born in December... it just gets to be too much... any other month will be fine, so that is why we are waiting until April/May to actively start trying. (sorry... i bored you) As of right now, i am optimistic... and i hope to stay that way up until i see that i am not ovulating or something like that. (i stared charting so i would know. i am only on CD7, so i am not anxious yet...) And we aren't telling people we are trying... so that is going to be tough. that is one reason i started posting... so i could talk about it with someone. lol... it is hard for me to keep that secret...

anyway, that was long... thanks for replying... !!!

Anna,

Trust me none of your information is boring. It's actually very similar to me. My husband and I were both born in Dec. DH Dec. 15 and me Dec. 30. The holidays are hectic without all the birthdays on top of it.

It's good that you started charting. Things I like to pay attention to that help me know my cycle are breast tenderness, acne, and discharge. Depending what chart you are using you may have a place to put all of those. Don't be discouraged if you don't ovulate. I only ovulate about every other or every three cycles.

I didn't tell anybody for while that we were trying but most people know now. You might get really lucky and get pregnant right away. Some women with PCOS don't have fertility problems. Are you doing anything to prevent pregnancy right now?

Have you been tested for Insulin resistance? I craved sugar a lot and was always hungry until I started on Met. For awhile, I thought I might be diabetic. I'm compulsive about my weight which is why I think I never became overweight.

When I first started posting, I told my husband I just needed other people to talk to with my problem. I'm kind of struggling with my diagnosis. I've thought I had it for a long time but was just diagnosed in November.

How were you diagnosed at 16?

Hope to hear from you soon. Until then, happy charting.

Carrie

I have tried to post a reply three times now.... it is like my computer doesn't want me too...

So anyway, i was Dx when i was 17. i was put on BC when i was 16 for irregular cycles and bad cramps (the bc didn't help the cramps though... almost made them worse.) I was still having very bad pain on my right side, so they did n u/s to see if they could see anything. i had a baseball sized cyst on my right tube. they decided to do surgery to remove it. after surgery, the pain didn't go away, it just became different. so they did an u/s again (to check the pain and to check for problems after the surgery) and that is when they found all the cyst on both my ovaries. she told me to stay on bc and that was that. they never did any blood work to test levels or anything. so as far as being IR, i have no idea.

We are using condoms and spermicide right now. after about a month, we will just use condoms. And then hopefully in 2 months, i will learn what my body is doing (whether regular or not... just by watching signs and patterns on my FF chart.) Do you post your chart, i have mine posted so that some of the girls who know what they are doing will be able to help me if i have a problem... :-)

How were you Dx. i am sorry you are having a hard time with it. i had a hard time too when i was first Dx. My sister was just Dx with PCOS and she was angry... (sometimes i would feel like she was mad at me... like i gave it to her... i felt bad for her.) But that is why i post here. the girls are very supportive! are you ttc#1?

Anna,

We are trying to conceive #1. I was diagnosed based on symptoms and because of my Insulin Resistance.

I think my sister might have it too but she eats so healthfully that she has very few symptoms.

I don't have a chart online. Where is yours posted? It would be interesting for me to see what other with PCOS have for a cycle. I've been very moody lately so I know AF is coming. How has the charting been going for you?

I am sorry, this is so disorganized tonight. I'm tired and very cranky. I want my husband's attention but snapped at him because he hasn't done the dishes. It's stupid I know but I work a lot and don't feel like doing them.

Hope to hear from you soon. When is your birthday and your husband's?

Carrie

I post my chart on www.Fertilityfriend.com. A lot of girls with PCOS post theirs there. You can either do the free one or the VIP. I do the VIP; I think it is something like $25 for 90 days. They offer a 30 day free VIP trial though. You can search other girls charts based on certain criteria and such. I have only been charting for 11 days, so mine isn't anything to really look at. It confuses me so far... I guess if anything happens in the next couple of weeks and my temp changes, I will get it a little more. Mine is posted in my signature line, under the ticker and the quote; there are some underlined words, Fertility Friend Chart or something like that. That is where you can see mine. But if you just go to the website, go to chart gallery and search for chart with PCOS. It is good to see how many of those girls get BFPs!

I am sorry you are cranky... I understand. I get cranky too... well when I was on BC. I have no idea yet how it will be off BC. (My DH does the dishes here too... and I get aggravated if he doesn't get them done... lol...) Do you know what your love language is?

Our Bdays are Dec15 (mine) and Dec19 (DH). I tried to post that one time before, but the computer lost everything I typed... and I got annoyed. Me and your DH share a bday!

I have to get back to work! Good to hear from you!

HI Anna,

I tried to figure out the charting but I think I will need to spend more time on it. I need to figure out how to change the calendar.

I read your posting onthe TTC board. Those names you picked out are adorable.

You also said that your temps are confusing. Are they up and down a lot?

What's a love language? I'm not familiar with that.

I'm feeling a little better today. It's nice, I have a day off today. What do you do for a living?

Tata for now,

Carrie

I don't know... i think i am just paraniod... i read the analyizer on my chart and it said so far my temps are fine. who knows...

A love language is the way you express your love to others. It is based on a book called "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman (i really recommend it... it is a great way to strenghten the relationship. it really helps explain the different ways people show love.) they are physical touch (mine), words of affirmation (DH's), gift giving, quality time, and acts of service. Th eone that is yours is what you do for others to show them you love them and what other do for you that make you feel most loved. If you and DH speak different love languages, it can be really frustrating... example, lets say yours is acts of service and his is quality time. You are always wanting to do things for him and get things done to show him you love him, but he is always wanting you to come sit with him and talk about your day or listen to show you that he loves you... (i have some friends that that happened with, they were really frustrated with each other.. i gave her the 5 love languages book!) that is really brief, but the basic gist! (there is a poll on the TTC board... you should check it out! Love Languages)

I am glad you feel better! i hate those cranky days! and days off are always nice! I am an office administrator for a property managment company. bleh... i was a nanny, then a spec.ed teacher assistant before i started this job. i really enjoy working with kids, i got burnt out... i didn't want to be burnt out because i want children of my own... and if i am burnt out on other peoples kids... well wheres the fun in that... lol... what do you do?

temping/charting isn't really that hard... you take your temp every morning when you wake up... sounds simply anyway. i start having problems when i don't get much sleep during the night. then i don't know what time i should temp or which time i wake up should be the time i use... or maybe i should temp two or three times a night... well, then which time would i use for my chart... lol... i have spurts of insomnia, and it just makes it a little confusing right now. when i get the hang of it, maybe it will be better. i am jst taking it at the same time everyday, even if i woke up an hour before and fell back asleep... that seems like the right way for now... (sorry that was long...)

Thanks for saying the names are adorable... I love the names Levi and Ariana. (DH has a hard time saying he will have more than two kids.. i want 4!) So if we have just two, i am hoping for a boy and a girl so i can use both of those names. MAYBE TWINS!!!! Do you have names picked out yet.

What cycle day are you on?

have a great weekend!

Anna,

I'll have to get that book. Are there combinations of people?

My friend's baby is named Ariana, she was born Dec. 14th. I really like Levi too, a strong Christian/Jewish name. Are you spiritual at all?

For your how many kids dilemma, maybe you'll have one single birth and then twins. You'll split the difference between what he wants and what you want.

My husband and I have not talked about names for a child at all. We want to have kids but it is a touchy subject. He had a baby die two years ago when he was previously married. We were just friends then but it still causes him a great deal of pain and stress. His biggest fear is how he will stay level headed if something were to go wrong. He also has three children from another previous marriage that he cannot see right now. He is trying to figure out how he can have contact again. It's hard for me to talk to him about my fertility issues because of all of that other emotional baggage. He doesn't entirely get how I feel because he has had children. I might never have them.

As for teh job, I am an Assistant Manager in a convenience store (gas station). I just started three weeks ago. My last job I was in management at a group home for adults with developmental disabilities and Prader Willi Syndrome. I understand how you feel about the burn out. That is exactly what got me. The pay wasn't great and I didn't have enough promotional opportunities. That along with my exhaustion was what led to me leaving. There was one day where I got punched in the stomach my a resident. I remember thinking, "If I was pregnant, I could have just lost my baby." My husband still works there and struggles with burn out occasionally, but he is not in direct care so it makes it a little bit easier for him.

So you're from North Carolina, where abouts?

I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin originally, but currently live in Mayville.

Carrie

Oh yeah, I'm on CD 32. I believe I will get my period by the 11th of March, I'd say the 14th at the latest. I think I ovulated this cycle, but we'll see what happens.

Hi Carrie!

I hope you are having a great weekend! You can be a combination or a couple love languages... sometimes I think I am combined Physical touch and quality time... you should read the book, it is very good!

I am spiritual. I am a Christian. I am not religious though... I am not going to go into what I think the differences are, but I think that religion has ruined some Christians... I will leave it at that for now. Are you spiritual...?

I am sorry about your husband’s child. I could never imagine the pain. I will be praying for him, and for you that you will have strength! How did you two meet... you haven't been married long, huh? I hope it all works out for you!

Do you have to work night shifts at that job, or are you more in the corporate part of the job. I am not familiar with Prader Willi Syndrome... The kids I worked with were autistic, LD, OHI, ADHD, etc. they weren't bad enough to be specialized, but not ok enough to be in the regular classroom. I loved some of them to death... and there were others I tolerated! I just got so tired... bleh... I am sorry you got punched... ... I don't even know where my thoughts go with that... man...

We are in Raleigh pretty much. I like it here. I would like to live a little further out, but this is ok. I would really like to own a lot of land! But we live in one of those cutesy neighborhoods that most the houses look the same. we have maybe .2 acres of land... so that they can fit 350 houses on the property... that have to make the lots small... oh well, it will be a great place to raise children. There are lots of kids here already, and a GREAT school right across the street. We have nice neighbors too. So it works. I am not familiar with Mayville. Don’t really know a lot about the North. I know I went to Chicago once and they made fun of my "accent." I was like "I am not the one with the accent..." lol... I am sure you understand them though... I do say y'all on a regular basis... lol... (And I drink sweet tea!, but I don't wear any hoops dresses... hehe...)

Sorry I rambled. You are little ahead of me on your cycle... I am on CD13... and no sign of o yet. I think I was really hoping I would stay kinda regular... I tend to be overly optimistic sometimes... I get my hopes up a lot. But in order to have a regular 28 day cycle, I think I would have to o tomorrow... and that probably isn't going to happen... oh well. I will stay optimistic. It is my first month off BC. One of the good things with temping is that you can tell if you def o'd or not. Fertility Friend is really good too, it will tell you when you ovulated, how many DPO you are and if you get the VIP what your chances are of being pregnant, according to your signs, when you BD, and other things like that... I just really like that sight. (Here I am rambling again...)

Ok I am going to go excersize my love language on DH! I will talk with you later!

Have a great Afternoon!

Hi Anna,

I do understand what you mean between the difference of spiritual and religious. I'm definately the same way.

My husband and I have known each other since 2003, but we just got married in October. I was previously married as well. I actually got married the day before his son died. WE ran away to Florida to get married, Sanibel Island. It was so beautiful.

For my job, I actually work in the convenience store. I might have to work third shift but probably only parital ones, for example, 3a-1p. I'm learning tons of fun stuff. It is fast paced and hard work. I learned more about inventory and cigarette counts. It's a lot of fun. The hours are long and its salary but there will be lots of promotional opportunities.

Jeff and I met at Prader-Willi Homes. He actually hired and trained me. His exwife works there still which annoys me, but what can you do. I'm glad I don't work there anymore.

How do you make sweet tea. My husband likes it and I would love to make it for him.

I was really stressed out from January to July and when I quit, I had a period for three monthsI had a period every 30 days like clockwork. Now I'm moving more towards 45 day cycles. I think a lot of that might be stress related. Changing jobs has been stressful. I think you have every reason to be optimistic. I'm just glad I get periods. When I hear other women say they haven't had one for two years it kinds of freaks me out. Your temp probably won't change until next week even if you ovulate this week. There is lag time with that and by the time the temp changes your ovulation/fertile time frame is over. So happy charting!!!!!!!!!!!

A woman at work is pregnant and just found out that the baby will have problems and she has to have her appendix taken out and an ovary removed because of cysts on it. She's not keeping the baby. It kind of makes me mad at her and sad for her. Her life would have been harder with the baby. She's not with the father, only nineteen, and doesn't even work full time. I'm just jealous that she could get pregnant.

Look it's contagious, now I'm rambling....

Carrie
