Hi Laura,

Welcome to our board. We're a small group of women and would love to have you join us.

My gyn did not think I had it either but did the test for Insulin resistance becauseI requested it. Turns out I had PCOS. I've been trying for almost two years now but have not had any furthur testing to find out about my LH, testerone, estrogen, or progesterone levels. I think I have high testerone because of my mild acne so I started taking Saw Palmetto and it cleared up my skin.

Are you taking your temperature in the morning to find out if you are ovulating? Do you think you will try fertility meds?

As for me, I have tried clomid but hated it because it made me crazy and I never got pregnant. I have been pregnant twice now, both ending in miscarriage, the most recent one this last February. We have some plans in place to do something different this next time, taking baby aspirin and progesterone after conception.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask us, we'll do our best.

Beth, I'm doing okay, just wanting to be pregnant, as I'm sure you understand this pain because you want the same. So what's next for you, is your doctor hopeful? Are you still hopeful? How are you doing?

Anna, I'm sorry about your job, work stress is one of the worst things. Do you think you caught that egg? All of your other cycles are so predictable, it's amazing what stress can do to it. Of course you know I'm still looking, even though you said you wouldn't update it. I didn't believe you

Amber, you are so adorable and beautifully pregnant. How have you been feeling lately?

As for me, work has been crazy. I had two people quit, one with some encouragment from me (I'm so mean) and I have two who are on personal leaves. Basically, I'm working a ton, but I love my job so that makes it easier. I recently hired one woman and might be hiring another person very soon, I hope. DH is leaving for a week on Sunday , so I'm gonna have my mom stay with me. I just don't want to be alone that much, it will be too depressing, just not ready yet. I finished another painting for the baby's room with hopes that some day there will be a baby in there, which has helped my healing. i'll survive, I just keep telling myself that.

Chat with you ladies later,

Carrie

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, that must be so stressful and saddening. I have read that some women with PCOS benefit from taking a diabetic drug during the initial months of their pregnancy to reduce the risk of miscarriage...I think it is called metformin, which I see in your profile. Is that why you have been taking that drug?

It must suck to have your husband away. I normally enjoy when mine leaves as I like "alone time" but lately I want him around more...I guess because I feel kind of stressed.

My doctor is sending me for more blood work to see if my LH/FSH ratio is high as I guess that is a sign of PCOS. I have not charted my temp because I am positive I haven't been ovulating. My period stopped in October and I have only had one since. I have been trying natural remedies to balance my hormones and have not had success with that yet. I would prefer to sort out my hormones and not use fertility drugs but if that is not possible, then I will be taking whatever they prescribe, I suppose! Has anyone had any luck with regulating their periods using herbs and/or diet?

I hope you all are well and I look forward to chatting with you. Thanks for letting me join your group. I don't have any friends who had challenges in becoming pregnant...in fact, they all took 3 months or less. My sister in law got pregnant while on the pill the 2nd time and after her husband had a vasectomy the 3rd time. Nobody really gets that it isn't that easy for some of us.

have a great day
Laura

Hi ladies... how are you all!

Welcome Laura, this is a great group to chat with! I don't know much about diet or anything. i have a pretty regular period. I was dx a long time ago, and haven't been to the dr latelty for it. if i am not pg by summer, i will be going to the dr to do something though... however, i am with you on the fertility drugs. i want to do as little as possible... I hope everything goes well at your next dr apt. when do you go?

Beth, how are you? i am so sorry about your cyst... but WHOOHOO for Mexico!! where are you going? i LOVE mexico! that will be a good break for you!

Amber, i LOVE LOVE your pic! that is beautiful! and i am sorry i didn't say it before, but i am sorry about your gma. i am glad you got to see your friends and celebrate the new life that you are creating now!

Carrie, how are you? you know me TOO WELL! You know, last month, we have "known" each other for a year! can you believe it! wow, time flies... i couldn't stay away from my therm... and i am glad now, because i think i would have missed it, and i would think i was 6 days late, turning up bfn after bfn... but, now i know i am only 5dpo! and i am liking the way my chart is looking! keep stalking... i have a good feeling! (don't i every month though!)

Sorry that dh is out of town... take some time to relax... take a bath... do something for yourself!

Alright ladies... i will check in later!

Carrie, hang in there w/DH being away!!!! It will be fun to bond w/your mom though I'm sure. Get her to cook you some comfort food!!! My mom is such a good cook. I miss being at home sometimes, even though it's been over 6 yrs since I lived w/them!

Amber, how ya doin?

Anna, G/L! I really hope this is it for you!!!! I need a bfp around here to keep me going! ~*~*~*~*Baby Dust~*~*~*~*

Laura, I hope you will be able to get some good answers soon. I know how frustrating this (VERY LONG) process can be believe me. I have been trying forever!!!!! I did acupuncture and chinese herbs a long time ago - to no avail obviously. But I have always had a 'regular' cycle - just a little longer than 28 days, usually ~31-34, depending.

Well, as for me, I am just relaxing about TTC for this month, and we'll go from there. My RE was hopeful when I last saw her in Jan. We will do one more cycle of IUI w/the same meds as the first two, and hope the 3rd times the charm! If not, I guess I'll set up another appt w/RE to see what she thinks. I would be ok w/giving it one more shot, but I want to do something new w/my meds. She said in Jan though, that if IUI doesn't work w/in 3-4 cycles, she thinks the next step for us would be IVF b/c it can also serve some dx purposes, esp since it looks like we have all the components of the pg equation - at least on paper. She said there is no reason that she can see from what tests we've had that I won't get pg. So, if she is hopeful, then I'm going to try and stay hopeful - I have to. I don't know if we will go the IVF or the adoption route - time will tell where God is leading us.

Have a good weekend everyone!!!

Hi There, I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I realized that I never really introduced myself. I will eventually take the time to figure out how to set up my signature but for now....
I am 30 years old and live in Canada. My husband is 39 and we have been married 2 years next month and together for 6 years in total. I thought I was really healthy until October when I started trying to get pregnant and my periods coincidentally stopped that month as well. Before then, my periods were always pretty regular, although I spent a 2-3 years on the pill which I guess would have masked a problem. We have a doctor appointment on April 24th to review results of my blood work and his sperm tests. I guess they will give us options at that time.

Is there archives of old chats so I can read the initial ones you started? That way I can get up to date on all of you.

Carrie -I bought some saw palemetto today to see if that helps my skin. How long did you take it before you saw results? I am about ready to try anything! I even ordered Proactiv this morning even though I am very skeptical that it will work. here's hoping!!

Anna - I hope that you are pregnant by summertime! Since your cycles are pretty good that must be very reassuring. How was the tracks? What is the tracks - like some kind of racing, you mean?

Beth - There are so many options to think about, aren't there? IVF sounds so scary yet if it comes to that, I will definitely give it a shot. Although the $$ makes it extra unattractive. Mu husband's company has "adoption counselors" that help you gain info on the process and give you contact info of others in the company who have adopted. I know it is early to think of that already but we would really like to have kids soon. My husband wanted to for years (as he is 9 years older) and I was always putting him off because I wanted to work/travel/etc - now I feel pretty bad as he didn't want to be this old when 1st becoming a Dad.

Well, better get going for now.

Hey Laura, Within a month of taking Saw Palmetto, I started seeing results. I used proactiv before and did not have much luck with it, but other women have. My only advice about the Saw palmetto, is always take it with a meal. The couple of times I took it on an empty stomach, I wound up with migraines with visual disturbance and all. If your acne problem is because of elevated testerone, it should help.

Beth, enjoy the break, who knows maybe it will happen on its own. One more IUI, hopefully this next one is it.

Anna, still watching your chart. Your temps look really good; hopefully they stay up.

Amber, how are you feeling?

As for me, I'm just waiting for AF to show up. I've had cramping for a couple of days now which can be normal after a D & C. I just want to move on be pregnant again. Oh well.

Hi Ladies...

Anna...Your chart looks good! Just wanted to throw in that you might have just had a implantation dip so you might have implanted late which will take a little longer to show up on a test. Good luck and lots of baby dust!

Carrie...Sorry about the cramping. I hope it stops soon and your body adjusts. I am praying for a sticky BFP for you!

Welcome Laura!

Beth...Enjoy your break! I am glad you have a plan but really hope that you don't need to move on IVF. Are you willing to move on to that? Let's see a break pregnancy! Those are the best kind!

Nothing new here. Still feeling good but wanting more BFP company on this board. I am sending you all the baby dust I have.

Amber, I am quite nervous... i keep going back and forth... i think my chart looks great, but i don't want to get my hopes up.. you know? i am having crazy symptoms... but i won't get into that right now... (the biggest two are strong smelling and nausea). I am afraid to test. i don't want to see a bfn. but, if i don't test tomorrow, i won't be able to test again until MONDAY... beacuse of traveling and all... but i guess if i test tomorrow and get a bfn, and then don't start af, i will have to wait and test on MOnday anyway... huh? last month, i started having spotting in my cm on 8dpo... this month, 10dpo, and NOTHING! not even a hint of spotting. i want to see my temp tomorrow. if it is high, i will test... i think.

Carrie, how are you? i am very sorry about the cramping. how are you feeling? is dh home yet?

Laura, yes, racing. i drag race. we go to the drag race tracks all the time between march and november. i am a little nervous though, because if i get pg, i don't know if i will be able to race. strapping yourself into a car that goes so fast down a track... don't know if it is safe for a baby bump... i guess i will cross that bridge when i get there.. Carrie and I started this thread a very long time ago... about a year i guess... so i don't know if you will be able to find the ones where we introduced ourselves, but i can do that now! My name is Anna, dh is Bryan. We live in NC. We have been married for (almost) 4 years. one furbaby. dh owns several businesses, and we have a race team that take up most of our time! We have one furbaby (dog) cami! she is almost 3! i don't work right now (although i have an interview at a daycare next week.. working with infants... how appropriate!) Most everything else is in my sig or on my charting home page (click on my cycle counter to see my charting page!) it is nice to meet you!

Amber, how are you doing? enjoying your break? are you getting ready for your IUI?

Buddy, Mere, it has been a while since we heard from you two!

Hi There - anyone have insight into this?

As I told you guys, it is suspected that I have PCOS as I have high LH, a few cysts, acne that won't quit, etc. The reason that I even went to the doctor though was that my periods went from being normal and regular from the age of 13-30 (3 of those years on the pill, which I realize doesn't count as "normal" periods) to stopping completely last September. I don't understand why the dramatic change, especially since nothing happened lifestyle-wise to trigger it that I know of....weight is same (5'3, 110 lbs), diet same (fairly healthy, bit of chocolate addict though), exercise moderately and regularly as I always have.
Is it typical for periods to go from regular to non-existent like this? Does anyone have a similar experience or know of anyone on this board who this happened to?? I have been thinking about all of this constantly lately and just don't get why my periods have disappeared...it is quite weird to me.

Also, I have cramps in my lower abdomen lately that are like period cramps but a little sharper at times. They are almost at the very tops of my legs where I imagine my uterus/ovaries are. Could this be because I haven't had a period in so long? Or do cysts get painful sometimes? The ultrasound I had in February only showed a few cysts that were pretty small....

Thanks

Laura...Maybe you should take a pregnancy test just to make sure that is not why you are cramping. I am not sure why your periods would have just went away. Mine have always been very irregular. It could just be the PCOS. If you want to try a natural way to get back on a regular cycle I would recommend acupuncture. Good Luck, I hope you get it figured out.
