Red face New and Very Confused!!

    Hello,

So Here is my story short and sweet. I have always had irregular periods but they came at least once a month. I had and U/S yesterday and the dr told me i had PCOS. im 5'9 140 pounds. 18% BMI. Not overweight at all. My blood sugar level is normal, i have no extra facial hair or excessive hair anyware, In not IR, im not balding. im quite feminine. I have no syptoms except i missed my period. My dr gave me provera to try. He said the only time i need to take metformin or chlomid is if i am trying to concieve. which i am not. So all these other posts it seems, i should be taking somekind of medicine. Should i take YAZ and see hou that turns out?

If i dont have any of those symptoms now, will they ever come? I hope not. basically im confused. Do i just ignore this cuz im not TTC?

uhhhhhh. This sucks and its stressing me out. Also my dr isnt the most agresssive. he didnt order any other blood work or tell me to come back to get it checked ever? Im glad i found this site!!! Please respond. THanks Cycters!!!

Hi blondieblue:-) it is all confusing b/c i am basically just like you, exc i did have some blood work done & u/s. i just joined here a month ago (when i was diagnosed) i am ttc so i've been charting ovulation & noticed a short luteal phase (the length of days after you ovulate until next period). mine was too short & the re said that was a "starter" symptom of pcos. he put me on glumetza (a diff. form of metformin) and i just had surgery on the ovaries last week. from what i gathered, as time goes on, it can get worse & symptoms can get worse with it. my defective luteal was just the tip of the iceburg of what was to come-yikes! i have heard that bcp's can help pco if you are not ttc. i dont know though??? i would not ignore this at all b/c in general (baby or no baby) you want to be healthy & have your body work like it should. i think the nice aspect for you is that you aren't feeling the pressure of ttc on top of all this. you can focus on just treating your pcos for future health. best of luck!!!! :-)
