Default New and Very Scared

Hi everyone! I'm not new to PCOS (well, not technically... I've been living with it for a few years), but I am very scared due to a recent event...

I went for an ultrasound to get a check-up of what's going on down there, and I looked at the scans and there was a bump (big, too!!!!) rising from what looked like the uterus (looked like a cavity, though kinda round, which is not what I would expect the uterus would look like... o.O though maybe that's what it looks like in ultrasounds). This wasn't there three or so years ago when I went for my first ultrasound. I am SOOOO scared this is endometrial cancer - while I was on metformin I wasn't very good about taking it and kinda left it for about two years, and only recently have I started taking meds again (progesterone this time) - my periods without these are few and far between, so this really is something... I won't see my OB/GYN til March 26, but til then I am SOOO scared!!!!! It's either some benign growth, a polyp of some kind, or endometrial cancer...

Do any of you have experience with this sort of thing??? Words of wisdom to hold me over? Anything?

I am so terrified... and if it is cancer, what would they do to try to deal with it? I'm only 24 and will be getting married within 5 years, and we've always wanted children, I don't want a hysterectomy!!!

Welcome to sc! I'm so sorry that you're so worried. It's difficult to wait when you're afraid it's something serious. But fortunately, endometrial cancer isn't common, especially not in young women. Could it be fibriods or just endometriosis? If your doctor thought it was cancer, you would have been treated right away. I wouldn't worry; it's probably nothing that will result in a hysterectomy.

Thank you everyone...

Well, what happened was that I peeked at the scans the ultrasound technician had left on the machine after she was done, so she didn't say anything about it, and like I said, I won't see the doctor until March 26. But actually, and this is kinda embarassing... it looks like this was a false alarm!! I mean, of course there is always the threat of cancer and bad stuff, and I won't hear the state of the endometrium until I see my OB/GYN, but... I realized the bump I saw was a bump in the pelvic bone!! I was looking at the big circular cavity which has a little "bump" rising from it (found some ultrasounds of pelvis online)... no wonder it was so round! Not to mention that behind it, it was pitch black. So yeah... whoops... heh...

If I could make my entire post "blush" it would be exactly how I feel...

My boyfriend thinks I'm paranoid and now you guys will too! lol
