    Default New to Vitex question

I hope to make this long story as short as I can. My former family doc. put me on Clomid in December. I shouldn't have gone along with it because I don't think she knew what she was doing (she knows next to nothing about pcos). Anyway, I didn't 'o' and in January I started spotting for over 2 months. I have never before had an issue with spotting.

My gyn. didn't seem concerned with the spotting. She put me on Met. (1500 mg) in early Feb. and told me to get a new family doc.

I met with my new family doc. two weeks ago and she seems great. When I talked to her about the spotting, she seemed to be under the impression that my body is sorting itself out after the clomid. I hope she's right.

I started taking Vitex a few weeks ago. Last Friday, AF started. Or at least the daily spotting changed to an actual flow. I stopped taking Vitex on Friday because as far as I understand, you don't take it when you have a period. Now finally my question: I hope the bleeding stops this week, but after this spotting ordeal I'm not too confident. Should I start taking the Vitex again at the end of the week as planned regardless of whether AF has stopped?

    I'd appreciate any advice

    hi Jackie C
you don't need to stop taking Vitex during your period. I was taking taking 1 400gm capsule x 3 times a day, I didn't even get to my period! I'm not saying that it will work that fast for everyone but at least i know it works and i'm all for it. Are you still taking Met? I think someone on here said that you shouldn't take Met & Vitex at the same time...
    Good Luck!!!

I'd keep taking it during AF.
Just to try and get the ball rolling. Some people take it during AF, some don't.
As for taking it with MET, haven't heard you shouldn't. I know you shouldn't take it with drugs like Clomid though. Not during the same cycle that is.

You may want to see about moving onto a new gyn, maybe to a RE if that's possible. It's safer if you do more things like Clomid because they can monitor you better... and probably know more about PCOS.
    Good luck.

Unless your doctor suggests otherwise, I wouldn't stop during your period.

I take 100mgs of vitex twice daily all month long.

I think it has helped regulate my cycles quite a bit.

    Hope that helps a little.

I take 400 mg vitex three times a day, and I take it every day (af or not). I know it takes three to six months to do everything it should, and in my opinion stopping for three to seven days isn't helping that out any. Again, just my opinion.

What I was told is not to take Vitex and Clomid together, but never told not to take vitex and met. However, Im only on herbs (no chemicals) so I am a bad one to ask about that. Nyer would probably know!
