Just wanted to start by saying Hi to everyone, and intoducing myself
My name is Hethaer and I dont believe i have been officially diagnosed with PCOS, yet. Although I do have a history of it in my family ( aunt & great aunt) along with most of the symtoms. When i was 17 i had gone to the Dr.s complaining about missing periods and they put me on BC to help "regulate" them and that worked fine in that aspect, but the pill also made me a very unpleasant teenager..more than the normal. So i was taken off of those when i turned 19 and no longer covered under my health insurance. At that time i was also sent to an endocrinologist who flat out just told me to lose weight, and to a 17 yr old that was devasting and made me never want to see another Dr. about my sensitive issues ever again.
Fastward a lil bit... Now I am 23 and settling down with my boyfriend/best friend of 2 years and the idea of starting our lives is becoming more and more real everyday. I went a good 2 1/2 years with getting a period EVERY month, almost like clock work..until 4 months ago it vanished. Ive taken a pregnancy test every month, twice a month since then and nothing. So I finally made a Drs appt with a new dr. and shes been great, listens to everything i say and is willing to work with me. Ive dealt with the weight issues and the excessive hair growth but i feel as if its getting worse again. Im more overly emotional these days, most of the time for no reason at all.
Im just looking to realize that there are other women out there with the same issues that im dealing with and some helpful pointers. I
do want to have children, and my aunt who also suffers from PCOS has been trying with no luck..
Is there anything specific i need to tell my Dr when i see her next? What can i expect? Any help is greatfully appreciated!!!!
