Ahhh! I had written a big ole intro post and the system told me I wasn't logged in and deleted everything. *cries in corner for a moment*
Hello
Basically, I've been newly introduced to the idea of PCOS. Recently, I've been feeling especially out of whack, so I went to the doctor. He was concerned about the fact that I was wrapped up in a sweater in 70+ degree weather and that I've been experiencing 'male' pattern baldness as a 20-something year old woman. He did a general blood test. The last time I gave blood, I was fine but oddly enough these little tubes caused my blood pressure to drop a few times causing me to temporarily lose my hearing and almost black out and I was violently ill for an hour afterwards. I think it may have been the required fasting. My glucose and thyroid levels came back normal, as did everything on the routine bllod check, so my doctor decided my thinning hair is genetic. I'm not convinced as I don't have any female family members that lost their hair at my age. I just feel something is wrong and won't feel comfortable giving up until I find out what.
In searching for answers, I've had both anovulatory issues and PCOS suggested to me as things to research. Turns out they can be connected and I have several of the symptoms.
Erratic periods (usually only regular while on BC).
Severe randomly timed cramps.
More than normal amounts of facial and body hair.
Male pattern baldness.
Acne of the chin, and more recently back and sometimes chest.
Sometimes painful sex (which the gyno said was cysts).
Lifelong depression.
Fatique and general cloudy headedness.
I am convinced I have some sort of hormonal imbalance. The lifetime of depression is enough to tell me that. I'm just not positive what exactly is causing everything else. I don't have any of the weight gain/insulin resistance problems often associated with PCOS. I actually have a hard time keeping weight on and get lightheaded when I don't eat often enough.
Do you think its possible that I have PCOS? I have another doctors appointment coming up and would like to breach the topic with him. I'm not sure where to start and am afraid he'll consider me a raving hypochondriac! Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
hello zenni, first id like to say welcome. i was new here a couple of weeks ago ive just been diagnosed. Your story sounds exactly like mine. For the longest time i kept getting tsh and gluc done and they kept coming back ok. I was also misdiagnosed with severe depression.
There are alot of different forums for you to read here that will give you tons of information. If i were you i would start by asking your dr to do some tests for pcos i cant remember them all i know there is a sticky here somewhere that tells you and if your dr wont do it find another one, alot of ladies myself included had a tough time being diagnosed. Dont stop until you find the right dr who will do all the required tests.
I know how it feels to know there is something wrong and be scared not knowing what it could be. So i hope this helps you.

Thanks for the welcomes and a special thanks to canadiangirl75. Even though I don't know for sure that I have PCOS, its comforting to see so many woman sharing my same struggles. I used to always feel so out of place with my issues. Hopefully, I'll get some answers soon.
Hi, I'm new too...and also just wrote a long old post that was lost because I wasn't 'logged in'
I am waiting to be formally told whether I have PCOS although the Dr doing my scan said I do. I will jsut say tho your story is ever sooooooooooooooooo familiar.
Hi zhenni, welcome to sc There are different types of pcos. 5 I think. Its in one of the threads but I can't remember which one at the moment. Your bloodwork can come back normal and still have pcos. I had symptoms for a LONG time before I found a dr that finally diagnosed me. I would encourage you to be proactive and not settle until you think you have had a proper diagnosis. A doctor that is willing to work with you to help you is number one. I feel much better now and I really think that its due to knowing what is going on and eating better and exercising and medication. I wish you good luck

Thanks for the info. The different PCOS types are interesting. I'm learning something new everyday.
I won't give up on trying to figure out whats wrong, PCOS or not. I know my body and I know it doesn't feel right. I'm tired of feeling bad all the time. My doctor didn't seem unwilling to talk to me or anything, he just seemed a little confused and really wanted to tell me everything was fine. He was concerned, but seemed to forget all about that when I got a normal blood results. I'm really nervous about my appointment on Wednesday, but if for some reason he dismisses my concerns, my back-up plan is to talk to my gyno.
