Default New to Yasmine treatment

I was diagnosed officially in August 2006, after bloodwork and radiology test my doctor prescribed Yasmine. I am reluctant to take Yasmine because while I was on other BCP (Ovacan 35 and Orthotrycyclin) is when my PCOS symptoms began.....or so I noticed. While on Ovacan I stopped getting AF altogether.

My concerns are weight gain mostly, but my doctor said that some of his patients lost weight, reduced acne, and grew back hair, and regulated their cycle. What should I expect being on this pill?

I havent got AF since 8/25/06 and will start when she comes again.

While I was taking Yasmin my acne cleared up mostly and I did lose some weight the first couple months, but the 3rd month I noticed some weight gain and I noticed I was losing alot of my hair, my dr switched me to Yaz, she said I should have hair regrowth with it but I haven't started taking it yet, I am going for a 2nd opinion tomorrow with another doctor.

I have been on Yasmin on and off for several years. It has done all of what you mentioned for me - I lost weight, reduced acne and reduced hair loss, reduced facial hair, and regulated periods. I love it. I have yet to see any of those things come back for me. Good luck!

This is great!

Hopefully I take as well as some of you to this pill!

The only problem is I havent had a period in three months and a week....who knows when AF will visit. I have an appointment to see my ob/gyn because my endo would like an opinion from a gyn standpoint...he wants to know if maybe there is some other reason why AF has not visited. This is good in a way because I will be a whole prospective from specialists and maybe my gyn will recommend me starting the pill on a sunday even though I did not get AF to bring it on.

We will see what the next step is on dec 6th.

::hugs::

I have been on Yasmine for several years b/c the Today Show actually did a segment on PCOS and talked about Yasmine and how good it was for PCOS. I never felt better in my life! It has regulated my periods, I lost weight and everything was great (gained the weight back during pregnancy though and I'm trying to lose it again). I love Yasmine and am so thankful that I got on it.
Best of luck!

I am currently waiting on AF to come and I will be on Yaz (my OBGYN said that one would be better for me, but either Yaz or Yasmine would be good since I have PCOS). I hope this is the pill that works the best for me (I have been on over 14 kinds of BCP's since I was 15 y/o).

Well so far I am on my 5th day of Provera and I feel horrible! My breast ache , I feel bloated, crampy, headaches, etc... I hope I get AF soon and I am looking forward to my last day of Provera!!

Next Step: Yasmin after AF and Blood Glucose Tolerance test.
