Default New York City - Kofinas Fertility Institute

Highly recommend this facility and it's persistent staff! They know which tests to run, are very thorough, monitor you frequently... watch for all of your hormone levels throughout your cycle. They know which Meds work... how much of it will work for PCOS! They are superb! Everything is on site and the Kofinas Fertility Institute is located in a magnificent hospital.. New York Methodist - part of the Cornell - New York Presbyterian family.

The Senior doctor.... Kofinas has been in New York Magazines - Best Doctors list for over 15 years. He is listed there under "Reproductive Endocrinology" because their speciality is hormonal issues! THEY KNOW PCOS!! And they are commited to keeping your back stuck in place when they do get you pregnant. I wish I would have went to them for my first two pregnancies!

Dr. Brzcheffa is amazing! He's the Endocrinologist on staff! Always remebers you and keeps your concerns at hand. Always willing to work with what you feel comfortable with. And whenever you have an idea of what you would like to use, he considers it and advises accordingly... giving you the pros and cons... not like some docs who give you that "I'm the doctor and you're the patient" routine. These docs are really up to date on whatever new thing is out there that is working! And are willing to hear about things you have heard that work as well.

Here is their website:

http://www.kofinasfertility.com/

Here is their Award listing on New York Magazine's Best Doctors of the Year
Found under Reproductive Endocrinology - Dr. George Kofinas

Yeah... my belly was a little bruised up a week ago, but now I found the trick to giving them to myself. LOL Still burns like heck going in though... but this is what we do to become mothers. :-)

Not too far from Queens actually. I'm the second exit from Queens on the Belt Parkway.. right after the Gateway Center Mall.

Question... how long before birth of your daughter (vaginal or c-section?) did you have to stop Lovenox? And did they put you on Heparin afterwards? Also... did you get an epidural? I so want one especially because I have a heart mummur, but afraid of becoming paralized because of the blood thinners. And one more thing.. heehehe (I know a thousand questions)... Did you have to continue blood thinners right after pregnancy? Because I see that some people say that they had to, others say not at all.

I switched from Lovenox to Heparin (hated Hep!) at about 37weeks..
I had a c/s (because of scar tissue on my cervix due to a cerclage I received at 20weeks UNRELATED to the injections!)
I had seen my OB that day and he said I was having contrax so to stop the injections I guess it was about 24 hous from last injection to Jennah's birth..
after delivery I did Heparin for a day or 2 and then was put back on Lovenox for 1 month..
I did get an epidural..if it has been 6 or so hours since your injection then an epi should be fine..

seriously..you remind me of myself when I was PG..all worried!
TRY to relax and enjoy this MAGICAL time! EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!!!!

so you never told me why you are on the injections??

Glad to 'meet' you NYCysta

Thanks so much for explaining. Yeah, I do get a lil worried... I guess because of the two losses I've had. I think I will relax once I hear the heartbeat.

They put me on the Lovenox to improve circulation. They said I have two clotting factors.

It's good to meet you too... I don't see many NYCysters on here. In fact I think I saw only one other about 2 years ago... LOL

BTW, you daughter is gorgeous!

Ebony, first and foremost congrats on your pregnancy! I see that you a re a fluffy cyster and so am I and this is wonderful to see another cyster conceive when they say all odds are against us!

I am glad you like the Kofinas facility, I actually had dr. Kofinas as the only doctor who recognized a problem with a prior pregnancy that resulted in miscarriage and he was wonderful even performed the amnio. This was back in 2000.

I so wanted to go to him but heard so many bad things re: his bedside manner which didnt faze me one bit but what stopped me from seeing him was my insurance. He didnt take it and paying cash is not possible.

You are in great hands and Methodist is a wonderful hospital, it is our family hospital and we live only a few blcoks from there! Its actually one of the top hospitals for the maternity ward, labor & delivery !

I am soo happy for you and wish you loads of sticky dust.
