newbe from Arizona who is really scared at this point
Hi. First of all I want to say what a God send this site is. I was just diagnosed with pcos Tuesday after years of seeing different doctors about the problems I have and always heard the same things. Either well I can't help you with that you need to see someone else or it might just be in your head or something that you'll just have to live with. I had mixed emotions Tuesday when the endocrinologist said ok you have pcos. I was so relieved to finally be taken seriously and have a name for what has been effecting me for over a over a decade and then when he said I'll just put you on this diabetic medication and with diet and exercise you should be fine after you loose some weight. That's it? Was my reaction. So I go home and do some research and talk to friends, turns out that one of has been taking the same met medication I was prescribed for 5 years now and another was diagnosed just last week and we are learning together. So then I started finding out way more on this site and realizing that more aspects of my health are being effected by this too that the doctors have ignored. I suffer from depression, severe insomnia and being over weight among other things. I'm so thankful to know more about it since this doctor didn't inform me on completely.
Im in AZ too, I know a GREAT doctor in Tempe if you ever need to find one

WOW thanks for all your replies! I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate around here. How do you add the personal info on here about your meds and so on? What do the little icons under the picture mean? I guess I should read the newbie guide.
I have an appointment with my pcp today and hope I don't forget anything I want to ask her. Usually I have tons of issues to bring up but then when I get there I get cold feet and just chalk it off to maybe I'm just being too sensitive and don't even bring it up. Chicken I know but I've never liked doctors.
I'm sitting here at the moment staring at all the pills (all vitamin and supplements like green tea and fish oil) I should be taking and just can't seem to get motivated to do it.
I just wish I didn't feel so tired all the time and drained of all energy and motivation. I know that goes back to the sleep deprivation but still....
Thanks again for all of your support. It's an amazing feeling to know I'm not alone in this.
I am from Phoenix (AZ) as well.....PLEASE email me!!!! I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2000 and my mother had it as well and i am a miracle baby! I met a girl named Sara on the pcosa website about a month ago and I was so nervous to meet her......when i met her we were not only wearing the same color shirt and khakis (WHOA!) but we were so alike. When i got home my bf was waiting to hear how it went and i cried so hard.....all i could say is "she is just like me!" and it was so true! it was such a relief to see that she had the same problems i did, gained weight like me, felt depressed and was feeling so lost! there is truly power in numbers so please email me or IM me ....would love to talk. Hang in there because this site is so informative and fun i almost forget why I am really on here......
Also......i had a horrible trip to the endo about 2 years ago so if you have a good endo please share! i am not on anything currently and am in the process of waiting for approval from insurance for WLS! Please say a prayer for me that i will have a quick approval.
Once again.....i am so thankful for you all!

Welcome from another PCOSr in AZ! I know how you feel when they just sort of drop it on you. I do have to say my endo has been really good and has sent me to IR classes so I can deal with that part.
I can tell you from experience you will learn more from this site than you thought possible.
The support you will find is also unparrallelled {sp?}!!!
