Hi, I'm new here, I have been reading all the posts pretty much non stop for the last two days!
I'm truly thankful to have found this site.
Sometimes I just feel so totally alone, and no one really understands.
I've known I had PCOS since 2001
I read about it in an article, and suddenly everything made sense.
After spending four years thinking I was bipolar and that I would never be able to have kids, everything sort of made sense.
I told my OBGYN about it and all he said was, "I don't know much about it, but you probably have it, come back to me when you are ready to start fertility treatment."
I was scared and confused so I did the worst thing, and just quit pursuing it.
I wasn't really in a rush to have kids, and that seemed to be the only thing he was concerned with.
Now I'm 29 and ready.
I joined Curves in March and started the low carb/no sugar diet.
I met a lady at Curves who had PCOS and has two children.
This opened up a whole new world to me, I finally had hope.
I actually met someone, in my area, that had the same problems.
She referred me to a specialist in Cincinnati that she calls her miracle worker.
I go to Curves 6 times a week and play tennis twice a week.
I've lost 28 pounds and 25.5 inches since 2/17/05
I take:
metformin 1000mg (I asked my GP to prescribe)
wellbutrin XL 300mg
Lexapro 10mg
Prenatal vitamins
green tea supplements
I have my first appointment with the Endocrinologist May 16, and boy it can't happen soon enough!!
Any tips anyone has would be awesome.
If anyone is in the NKY/Cincinnati area, it would be great to have someone to talk to.
oh and one question,
is there a difference between fortament and metformin?
I'm slowly learning, but at least I have hope, something I didn't have before!!
Hallelujah for this website!!
