Hi I am new to this site, I have been recently diagnosed with pcos and have gained over 120lbs, any ideas how I can lose the weight? I have just stared metformin 1500mg but I find that they make me sick.....
I am aslo new to this site and I have been on 1500 met since March and seem to still get sick from the met. It seems to help if i eat soemthing low in carb before i take the met. and drink lots of water.
I have lost 30lbs since started taking met i just watch what i eat and stay away from carbs.

Welcome to SC! Check the Weight Mgt. section for many good tips on ways of eating The Met finally stopped making me sick, but I don't have much of an appetite.
I recently restarted taking metformin. I had stopped in the past because it made me sick. This time I focused on trying to eat as healthy as possible. I have been doing great until recently when I over did it with carbs. So far the metformin has helped my PCOS symptoms. When you have time visit the met/glucophage board.

Welcome to SC. Sometimes it takes a while to get over the side effects of met.
Try the diet and exercise forum--lots of great info there. Lots of cysters have have success with a low carb diet! http://www.soulcysters.net/forumdisp...sprune=45&f=14
Hi and WELCOME!
The Met always makes my stomach really upset when I switch dosage or eat a lot of carbs. Eating right lessens the side effects for most.
I gained a hundred pounds b/f I found out I had PCOS. My first 2 attempts at Met got me preg so now I am taking it with BC so I can lose the weight. I do Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone. I also do low carb and try to follow the diabetic diet closely. There are several weightloss threads on here you can join to have help and motivation. The one I post to is called Turning THIN-side out and it has been the biggest help with keeping me on track.
Good Luck!
I was put on metformin on 4 tablets a day, If you go to the doctor they should be able to talk you through the best course of medication for you..Everyone is different, met does not always agree with everyone.
I started off at 1500mg of Met in Aug at first I was sick,,but now the only side effect I have is "pooping" alot. Also for the last month I don't eat anything with my pill most of the time "I keep weird hours" and not hungry when it's time for my pill everyone is different..I'm hoping your side effects lessen soon ...Met is so benefitial
