I'm new to the site and just wanted to say hi. I was diagnosed in Oct.2006. I am currently not on meds, but am looking for different alternatives to birth control. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to S/C. You've found a great place to come for information and support, I hope you enjoy it here.
When you say you're looking for alternative methods to birth control, do you mean you're on the pill to control your symptoms, or you're looking for other ways to not get pg?
I'm sorry you just had me a little confused.
Hugs,

I'm not wanting to get pregnant at all. I don't think I have that "motherly instinct" I'm looking to control my symptoms. Lately I have been extremely moody and easily irritated and I am always tired. I am also having a difficult time losing weight. I seem to stay at the same weight. I would love to find some really simple recipes.

WELCOME CYSTER!!!!

Diaphrams and condoms are good ways to prevent pregnancy. Are you married? If so and you never plan to have children, get your tubes tied. To help with your symptoms, i would suggest talking to your dr for treatment options. I find that the met and Topamax really help mine. Also, I'm on an Insulin Resistance diet which helps iwth my energy levels and exercis 3 times a week for 30 mins a seesion.

Going on bcp's my dr warned would only supress the PCOS symtoms but wouldn't be a good long term solution for them. She also said that bcp feed into the symtpom of weight gain and make it virtually impossible for PCOS/IR women to loose weight and keep it off. Now, that being said, each woman is different and react to things differently. i would definately talk it over with your dr and voice your concerns.

HTH!!

(((HUGS)))

Question

Hello Ladies,

This actually my second day here!!This is AMAZING!! nobody seems to understand me when i talk aobu this issue they all look at me like i'm from another planet!!! i am so happy....to finally have found a place to talk about this issue and help each other throught rough times....and good...
So I am 24 years old just married my best friend on August 19, 2006. We would like to try to conceive next year....but right now i am on BCP, Yasmine. I was diagnosed in 1997 when i was 16 years because of irregular periods...I went to a gyno but no ultrasound because i wasn't sexually active by then. I got the ultrasound when i was 21 years....During that time i was always on BCP. It is 8 years that i am on BCP....I do not know if i should stop the BCP because we would like to get pregnant only next September...I was told that i should take prenatal vitamines! What do you think i should do??? What is the best way in going about this?
Sorry it's so long just because i am so worried!!!!

A worried Cyster

Welcome! I found that met was the most help to me, it helped me with my periods and helped me lose weight and (most importantly to me at that time) helped me conceive.

alisha511
welcome cyster! I would say that met helped control my symptoms, during the times I was not ttc, I took BCP also. I am taking cinnamon now, which has helped me with my periods and my diet (reduced the sugar cravings a lot!)

If there is anything I can do to help cysters, please feel free to ask.
Hugs
Jenny
