I just found this site today and it is amazing! There is so much information and so many great people! I can't wait to get to know everyone!
I have had problems with my menstrual cycle since I began when I was 12. I was put on birth control at 12 years old, and was on it until I was 19. I never had a break from it, never changed brands, etc. My doctor had found cysts on my ovaries and said that would regulate my periods and that was that.
During those few days each month I was in so much pain I would curl up in the fetal position and cry. I could barely even function.
At 19, I began seeing a specialist, who never could give me any answers.
After getting marred in February of 2006, my husband and I started trying to conceive in May. In August of 2006 I was diagnosed with PCOS and have been having test after test ran since then. I have been on Provetrium 4 times, and have my next appointment next Wednesday. I am getting frustrated with not having any answers!
I am so glad that I found this board. There is so much support and encouragement here!!

It sounds like you've had some frustrating experiences with doctor's so far. I can comiserate. The doctor that diagnosed me said that it was a disease that would make me grow hair on my face. THAT'S IT. Nothing about infertility, insulin resistence, nothing. luckily I looked up what the heck the disease was on my own, got scared out of my mind, then found a great doctor to explain it to me the right way. So finding a good doctor is key.
I'm glad you've found the boards. I've been dealing with this for a long time, so if you have any questions, let me know, I'll do my best to help you. I'm not currently ttc, so I can't help with that, but there's a great board of cysters that can help with that area.

Hi and welcome to SC!! You'll find a huge amount of info on here about PCOS!! Have you talked to your Dr about taking metformin yet? It helps with the PCOS symptoms and also helps you get pg.
I am on 1350 mg right now trying to get pg (again) I had gotten pg in December after only being on met for 4 months (was up to 1000mg) but I had stopped taking it in the beginning of my December cycle because I wanted to take a break. I ended up having a m/c in March (I think due to me stopping my met) so this time I wont be stopping until I am about 3 months pg.

WELCOME!!!! I too, was put on BCP at a young age! Just got off in November and then found out in March I had PCOS!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I also had some frustrating doctors when i was younger, who pretty much overlooked all my symptoms and just put me on bcp and told me not to worry about it. As i got older and had more and more symptoms, i finally found a new dr and got diagnosed. Hoping you will find all the information and support that you need here!
