Red face Newbie =)

Hello Everyone, I am new to the site. First of all, I met a few of you in the chatroom and want to thank you for your information and support.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1997, although I had trouble with my periods almost since I started them, it was a late diagnoses.

My Symptoms:
Infertility, Anxiety & Panic Attacks, Skipped periods, Heavy bleeding on and off , High triglycerides at the age of 17 - Present, until I came here did not know that it was related to PCOS, Extreme pain and cramps in my sides which were the cysts bursting I was told, Dark hair in odd places, Weight Gain & Loss throughout the years, Ultrasound confirmation, and many more things that are listed on this site.

Back then all that my Doctor told me was that it was tiny cysts in the ovaries and Birth Control could be used to help with symptoms. I tried different birth control pills also, but never for a long amount of time. I never had much relief, only my periods were regulated. Even now only about once a year I miss one.
Due to the cysts growing, a few years ago I had to have my left ovary and tube removed because it was taken over by a cyst that grew larger than a grapefruit which killed it, a hemmoraging cyst it was called. I wanted a total hysterectomy but my Doctor refused because he said that there was nothing wrong with anything else?? I think he actually overlooked or forgot that I had PCOS because after surgery he told me now I can try for a baby. I reminded him that I had PCOS, at which time he grabbed the chart and looked at it, then looked at me and said well we can try fertility treatments. It upsets me that all of these years I never looked into it any more because I listened to my Doctor.
I never heard of Metforin until now, if I even spelled it right, LOL. He had me tested one time for sugar levels and other things and said that if the level was high enough and I could take these great pills that alot of women who have PCOS take and it actually helps them lose weight. My results didn't show a level that was high enough he said, so off I went, no pills, nothing.
2 years ago I started to gain alot of weight, probably 40 pounds even though I never eat more than alot of people I know, sometimes I have cravings and can't help it. Also since my ovary was removed I am getting alot more dark hairs here and there that I never had before, I feel terrible the week before and during AF. Hot Flashes & Cold Flashes,< if there is such a thing, nervousness, breast tenderness and underarms more than usual, nausea, etc. I am thinking I will go to a different Doctor soon.

Really this is a Godsend, this Forum. I want to thank everyone who I talked to and all of the information on the site is wonderful. I am still just beginning my reading, but already it is helping me see some kind of hope is there.

Just wanted to say hello and welcome, glad you found us. Unfortunately, a lot of us deal with dr's who don't seem to listen or offer much treatment. Hopefully you will find lots of info and support here so you can organize your thoughts, either tell your dr what symtpoms you are having that you want addressed, or find another dr who will listen to your concerns and treat you appropriately. Best of luck to you, and let us know how you're making out!

My heart goes out to you! I first heard of PCOS in 1996 and got the same response: oh you just miss periods, here take some BCP. And it didn't help all that much, kept missing periods, kept dealing with depression, and kept struggling with my weight. I also have very painful periods so i've actually liked missing them til I got married and wanted to have my large family. And I want to say again, my heart swelled and over flowed when I found this site and saw my soulcysters! THANK YOU FOR POSTING! And you're not alone...welcome welcome welcome
