Welcome!
Aspartame & saccharin cause the body to produce small amounts of insulin, without an increase in blood sugar. This is because the body is fooled into thinking that blood sugar will go up (these sweeteners are chemically identical to sugar). That extra surge of insulin brings your blood sugar down low, and if there is no food for the insulin to act on, your blood sugar can drop low. Your brain, in an attempt to raise it again, will start craving sugar/carbs.
I have never been a big avoid artifical sweeteners fan anyway, so I rarely have them. But when I do, I have them with food so the insulin produced has food to act on. Then I won't be craving carbs to bring your blood sugar back up.
Good luck!
