Technically I've been here a few days, but haven't done my official intro post, yet.
I was just "diagnosed" three days ago. Technically we're waiting for the labs to come back before starting Metformin, but they did an ultrasound in the office and I saw the "pearl necklace" myself. Does anyone else laugh a little at that terminology? My RE started me on Provera last night to try to bring on my cycle since I haven't had it in over a year, but my primary tried this about 7 months ago and nothing happened. Has anyone else ever had Provera not bring it on? Needless to say, now that I got up the courage to go to my new (much more supportive) doctor and I feel really comfortable with him, I want to start taking care of things as quickly as possible.
I'm also taking a women's multivit, Vitamin E, Slow FE, Fish Oil, Evening Primrose, Vitex (until we TTC), and I just started taking Chromium Picolinate yesterday after the appointment.
I live with my boyfriend, Jason, his 8 year old son, Kolin, 10 year old daughter, Kelsey, their cat, Midnight and our kitten, Six. Jason had a vasectomy about 7 years ago after his children were born, not expecting a divorce to happen so quickly, so when we TTC it will be either through in-vitro or a vasectomy reversal, but we are considering our options because once we get my cycles regulated, I think we'll start pretty quickly. We aren't officially engaged because he has been told MANY times that he better not propose until his divorce is final, and we stalled for MONTHS on sending the paperwork into the lawyer, but now that it's all in the works, we're tentatively planning a destination wedding in Jamaica for July 13, 2008.
I know some people go through so many emotions when they are diagnosed, but for me it's pretty much just relief. I'd looked up so much on my symptoms and it seemed like it HAD to be PCOS, so knowing it for sure just feels good. All things considered, the fact that it isn't cancer or multiple, multiple fibroids (my mom had to have a hysterectomy for fibroids about 15 years ago) is enough to make me thankful!
