I haven't officially been diagnosed but about a year ago it put me in the ER and the doctor there told me it was a very high probability plus my mom has it. I have been dealing with the symptoms for about 5 years now and have an apt to see a great doctor but am very scared that I waited too long. Just wanting to talk to some other women that have been going through this too. The more and more I learn about it the more I don't feel alone, but it's still hard I kinda feel like a failure cuz me and my husband haven't been able to get pregnant. Don't get me wrong I've loved the time we've had just us but we're coming up on our 6th year of marriage and it's starting to get to that time we start having children.

Entenmanc- I'm a newbie at this too, but have been reading alot and learning.. and I don't thing there is such a thing as waiting too long. I haven't read anything like that. B/c in my opinion, if we inherited it, then we've had it forever, and most of us could have been treated in our childhood or teenage years if they had known... especially for us insulin resistant PCOS'ers. But it's just my opinion, don't take it for fact.
I agree completely with Psalms. I dealt with the symptoms for four years before I sought treatment. I had the HSG, the B/W, DH had the S/A and all was good. The only prob is that I do not ovulate regularly. Please do not feel like a failure. God created us just as he wanted us and that is how we turned out to be. You are not a failure, by all means you are trying and you are willing to get treatment. If you were a failure you wouldn't get help. God will send you the BFP you want because in the bible it says ........
Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to all of this too... I'm in the process of finalizing the diagnosis. I go for more bloodwork on 3/6/08... right now my specailist has pinned it down to PCOS VS Adrenal hyperplasia or poss both. I don't know where to begin.
Welcome to SC! I am fairly new at all of this myself, as I was just diagnosed with P.C.O.S in February 2008. I have come to realise that things happen for a reason and firmly believe that things can and will only get better!
Don't look at yourself as being a failure Entenmanc! It's not your fault!!
Thank you all sop much. I think my biggest thing now is that I wanna back to being healthy lose all this stupid weight and then concentrate on having a baby. Quick question for any and all. I know this really good doctor in Aurora, CO. That will probably put me on Metformin, but my step sister who has PCOS is on this other med called Glumetza. She said the side affects aren't as bad. Have any of you tried this? I'm trying to figure out what would be best.
I haven't ever heard of that med but I am on Metformin and my doc put me on the extended release tabs. I have had NO s/e from it and I have been on them for over a month now.
