 Newbie - any thoughts??
Hi! I haven't been fully diagnosed with PCOS yet, but my doctor told me yesterday "she has a feeling its PCOS." Here's my story:
I've had period irregularities since day 1 (12 years now), and was put on birth control to help it. I was put on YAZ about 3 years ago to help with another problem, and then my hair started falling out, so I came off that and was put on NuvaRing, which I loved. But for the past 2 years I suffered and am still suffering from night sweats, so about 4 months ago I got some lab work done - and all normal, yuck! I've also gained about 50-60lbs since 2003, and have a hard time losing it. I've tried diet after diet and exercising - but no luck. I also have increased hair production (toes, bellybutton, face), but didn't know until yesterday that it was a symptom of PCOS. I have also had an ultrasound done, but only one small cyst was found - so that didn't help, just like my labs!
My doctor is trying to get me into an endocrinologist, but they have to review my chart before since everything is coming back normal. Anyone else have labs and ultrasounds come back normal but all the other symptoms show?? And should I just try the metophage (sp?) and see if that helps any of the symptoms. I am just confused - i've been dealing with the symptoms of PCOS for years, and finally i'm hoping to get close to a real answer! Though the infertility scares me!
