First, I just wanted to say I am extremely thankful to find this forum!
I am 20 years old and I was just diagnosed with PCOS yesterday after having 6 years without a period (and when I had one, it was very erratic!) and numerous blood tests.
My doctor didn't explain much to me and she made it seem like it was no big deal, but when I read up online I became very scared. I read that it may run in families but nobody knows what really causes it...I know of no one in my family that has it, so I feel as though I have no one to talk to.
How worried should I be? I go for a fasting insulin test next week, and I know women with PCOS are more likely to have diabetes. I'm really nervous about that...
Is there anything else I should be worried about aside from potential diabetes and infertility down the road? I've read about many cysters (

) who have had children, so I'm very optimistic and would like to congratulate them for that!!! I just wanted to know if there is anything else I might experience, or should keep an eye on over the years?
Thank you all so much in advance, I truly appreciate each and every one of you for the help and guidance.
Bree
