I too recently started on metformin and my glucose levels are normal. The medication is used for type 2 diabetes but is also used for people with PCOS and do not have diabetes. It suppose to help the ovaries somehow. I had the same thought with it....LOL I asked the DR will I have to test my Blood sugar levels? he told me no. It doesn't cause a hypoglycemic reaction (low blood sugar levels)

Hi Bella,

My doctor told me that it can take up to 6 months to get your period once you start Metformin. If I were you, I would wait another month or two and see what happens. If you are feeling especially anxious, call your doc and see what he says. I start Met a couple of months ago and I just got my first period since being on it recently, so you never know. Best of luck with everything!

My periods shortened the first month on met. If your anxious to get things going I would ask for a blood test to see if your hormones are improving. Are you charting? I know it can take up to 6 months for Met to get working, if it works at all... I guess it depends on how long you are willing to wait.

If you look at the very top of the Metformin Forum page you'll see some sticky posts. There is one post that may be very helpful to you if you read it! It's information on Metformin and PCOS in general. Check it out! I just did and I feel like I know a lot more about what's going on!!!
