hello. I am a bit new to this website. i visited it about 2 weeks ago and haven't had the chance to get back to it until now. i have POS. and have probably had it since i was 15 years old, but just got diagnosed 2 months ago. I have been put on Metformin. IS anyone else on this medication?? the information i was given at the pharmacy and on the bottle said take 3 pills per day, so i did for 2 days and then had to stop for 4 because the medicine made me sicker than a dog. now im back on metformin and only taking 1 pill a day and feeling 10 times better. Is anyone else experiencing this?? does anyone know how long it takes to start ovulating once on this medication so that we can get pregnant?? feel free to email me as well as leave me a message on here, my email is: netzel81@aol.com

thanks for your responses and for the advice on what types of foods you eat. I am not an overweight person, I am underweight. I should weigh betweeen 130-145lbs and 5'6'', but I weigh 110lbs. my body shreds the food i eat off very fast and ive been checked out and the doctor said nothing is wrong, so im just a skinny girl.
ive known something was a little odd about me when i was about 15 and i didn't get my periods every month like a woman should, but i didn't make anything of it. My sister showed me where the girly supplies were kept in our house and my mother didnt say anything to me. She didnt tell me that she had POS and Endometriosis until i told her i was getting a ultrasound done earlier this year on me to see why my periods weren't regular. and then one day before the ultrasound i came home from the doctor with some sheets that said POS and what it was and symptoms and such forth. so i had the ultra sound done, my doctor had specialists look at it and they diagnosed me with POS. I called my mom up wondering to myself if it was hereditary. She told me she has a little bit of it and so does my aunt and thats all she would tell me. Since im closer to my older sister than my mom and my mom wouldnt tell me anything, i asked my sister about it. She said my mom has a little bit of POS and Endometriosis and that my older sister has the Endo, and my little sister has Half of both and that I got POS. Well, I just wanted to share my story of POS and how I found out I got it.
I am also on MET, 2X Day. I had very minimal side effects - just loss of appetite for the first few weeks. I have seen a lot of posts in the Metformin forum that have some tips on dealing with the side effects. There is also a wonderful thread called Metformin Success Stories.

Had a rough year and disappeared for awhile, but I'm back!

I'm also on Metformin. When my RE prescribed it to me she also put me on a 40-30-30 diet which really helped avoid the nasty side effects. Even when eating "healthy" and very low calories, most people eat a very high carb diet. So try not to eat any greasy/fatty food and also reduce your carb intake when taking the pill. Like someone else suggested, start with one pill and work yourself up to 3.
Hope that helps!
